How To Fix The Moisture Detected Error On Galaxy S21
The Samsung Galaxy S21 is one of the greatest smartphones on the market, offering a sleek design, high-end specs, and a user-friendly interface. However, even with its impressive features, users have reported encountering a common error message: “Moisture Detected”.
This error message can occur when the device’s USB port detects the presence of moisture, which can cause issues with charging and data transfer.
In this article, we’ll explore the common causes of this error message and offer solutions to help you troubleshoot the issue and get your phone back up and running in no time.
Common Causes
There are several reasons why your Galaxy S21 may display the “Moisture Detected” error message. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most common causes.
- Exposure to moisture or liquid damage: This is one of the most common causes of the “Moisture Detected” error message. If your phone has been exposed to moisture, such as rain or splashes from a beverage, it could cause issues with the USB port and trigger the error message.
- Use in humid conditions: If you use your phone in a humid environment, such as a bathroom or near a pool, moisture can build up in the USB port and trigger the error message.
- Poor charging habits: Improperly inserting the charging cable into the USB port, or using a damaged cable, can also cause moisture to accumulate in the port and trigger the error message.
Troubleshooting Procedures
If you’ve encountered the “Moisture Detected” error message on your Galaxy S21, don’t worry! There are several troubleshooting procedures you can follow to fix the issue.
Dry the USB port
The first step in troubleshooting the “Moisture Detected” error message is to dry the USB port.
It is important to do this because moisture in the port can cause issues with charging and data transfer. If the port is not dry, it can trigger the “Moisture Detected” error message, making it impossible to use the phone as normal.
Drying the port is the first step in troubleshooting the error because it addresses the root cause of the problem and ensures that the device is able to function properly. By removing any moisture from the port, you can help prevent further issues and ensure that your phone is ready to use.
- Turn off your phone: To start, make sure to turn off your phone to ensure that it is safe to handle.
- Remove the charging cable: Next, remove the charging cable from the USB port.
- Dry the port: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently dry any visible moisture in the port. Make sure to clean the entire port thoroughly, paying special attention to any nooks or crannies where moisture might have accumulated.
- Wait for it to dry: After cleaning the port, wait for about 10-15 minutes for the device to dry completely. This will ensure that the port is free from any remaining moisture.
By following these simple steps, you can effectively dry the USB port on your Galaxy S21 and resolve any issues caused by moisture. If you encounter any further problems, be sure to consult a professional technician for further assistance.
Use a different cable or adapter
If the issue persists, try charging your phone with a different cable or adapter. Using a different cable or adapter is important because the problem could be caused by a faulty cable or adapter.
The cable or adapter might not be functioning properly, which can result in issues with charging and data transfer. By using a different cable or adapter, you can determine if the problem is with the cable or adapter, rather than the phone itself.
This will help you identify the root cause of the problem and take the necessary steps to resolve it.
Additionally, using a different cable or adapter can also help you avoid further damage to the device. By taking this step, you can help ensure that your phone is functioning properly and ready for use.
- Obtain a different cable or adapter: To begin, obtain a different cable or adapter that is compatible with your Galaxy S21.
- Connect the new cable or adapter: Connect the new cable or adapter to your phone and to a power source.
- Observe the charging process: Observe the charging process and look for any changes. If the “Moisture Detected” error message no longer appears and the phone is able to charge normally, it is likely that the problem was with the original cable or adapter.
- If the error persists: If the “Moisture Detected” error message persists even with a different cable or adapter, the problem could be with the phone itself, and you should consult a professional technician for further assistance.
By following these steps, you can effectively determine if the “Moisture Detected” error message on your Galaxy S21 is a result of a faulty cable or adapter.
Take it to a Samsung service center
If you’ve tried all of the above troubleshooting steps and the “Moisture Detected” error message still persists, it’s time to take your phone to a Samsung service center for further assistance.
Bringing the phone to a service center is important because the “Moisture Detected” error message could indicate a more serious issue with the phone. If the issue cannot be resolved through simple troubleshooting steps, such as drying the USB port or using a different cable or adapter, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance.
At a service center, trained technicians have the necessary tools and expertise to diagnose and repair the issue. They can perform more in-depth troubleshooting and repair procedures to resolve the problem, such as replacing damaged components or cleaning internal parts. By bringing the phone to a service center, you can ensure that the problem is properly diagnosed and repaired, and that the phone is functioning properly once again.
Additionally, seeking professional assistance can also help you avoid further damage to the device. If you attempt to repair the phone yourself, you could cause further harm and potentially void your warranty. By bringing the phone to a service center, you can ensure that the repair is performed by a professional and that your phone is in good hands.
Conclusion
The “Moisture Detected” error message on a Galaxy S21 can be a sign of a more serious issue with the phone. If you encounter this error message, it is important to take the necessary steps to resolve the problem, such as drying the USB port, using a different cable or adapter, or bringing the phone to a service center.
By taking these steps, you can ensure that the issue is properly diagnosed and repaired, and that your phone is functioning properly once again. Seeking professional assistance from a service center is recommended to avoid further damage to the device and ensure that the repair is performed by a trained professional.

Same happened to me and I rather smash the damned thing than spending even ONE Penny on it.
Samsung S21 is NOT worth the money. I bought it one month ago and within days “moisture detected” nonsense appeared despite of the fact that the phone has never been even close to moisture let alone water. I can charge the phone wirelessly but when trying to chatge using cable it would initiate “moisture detected”. I do not recommend this phone to anyone.
