How To Fix The LG G7 ThinQ Unfortunately System UI Has Stopped Error

Problem: Hi there! My phone keeps shutting down. I keep getting a message “Unfortunately, System UI has stopped” with x Close app. Then the phone proceeds to flash the home screen on and off but is unresponsive to anything. That message appears within a minute of booting up. If I want something off my phone, I have to shut it down, restart, and then I have about 30 seconds where I can try to grab a text or phone number before it gives me that message again. I have an LG7 ThinQ (not in your drop down list) It is a brand new phone. I’ve done a soft restart and US Cellular and my employer help desk both told me I have to send it back to the manufacturer. I’m not positive about my operating system. Thank you so much!

Solution: The “Unfortunately, System UI has stopped” error is usually caused by the user interface app of the phone crashing.

The first thing you need to do in this case is a soft reset.

  • Simultaneously press and hold the Volume Down button (left edge) and the Power button (right-side) until the device powers off (approximately 5 seconds) then release.
  • Wait for a few  seconds for the reboot process to complete.
  • Try to check if the issue still occurs.

The next step is to check if the latest Google App update is causing this problem. Uninstall the Google update from your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

  • Go to Settings > select ‘Apps’ or ‘Application manager’
  • Go to ‘ALL’ apps and there, you have to choose “Google App”
  • Click on “Uninstall updates”

You should also try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode as this might fix the problem.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the power button and the volume down button. Release both buttons when the System Recovery screen appears.
  • Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe Cache and press the power button to confirm.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then one last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
