Solution 1: Restart Steam completely

To do this:

  1. Click on Steam tab located at the upper left corner of Steam window.

Solution 2: Temporarily Disable Antivirus Programs

For Windows Defender:

  1. Click on the Start or Windows logo key located at the lower left
  2. Click Settings an icon that looks like a gear to open Windows Settings section.

  6. At the new window, click Manage settings from Virus and Threat Protection settings.
  7. Toggle OFF Real-time protection.
  8. Restart your computer.

For AVG:

  1. Double-click on AVG icon located at on system tray
  2. Click Temporarily disable AVG protection.
  3. Select how long you want AVG to be turned off and whether you want AVG to disable its Firewall too. Click on OK to disable the antivirus program.

For McAfee:

  1. Double-click on McAfee icon located at on system tray.
  2. Click Exit.
  3. A dialog box warning you that McAfee protection will be turned off, click Yes to disable the antivirus program.

For Avast:

  1. Double-click on Avast icon located at computer system tray.
  2. Click Avast shields control.
  3. Locate the options to disable the program – the options are to disable it for 10 minutes, an hour, until the computer is restarted or permanently (until you yourself turn it back on). Select whatever option suits you best and use it to disable the program.

Relaunch Steam client and then check if Steam Error code 7 on Windows 10 still occurs.

Solution 3: Flush DNS Cache

One of the most recommended solution that you can try in fixing Steam Error code 7 is to flush DNS Cache. This is done to clear computer’s local DNS cache that can fix network related issues with Steam servers on Steam client.

To do this:

  1. At the search bar located at the lower left, type Command Prompt
  2. Right click on Command prompt result and click Run as Administrator from the drop down menu. This will open command prompt with administrative access.
  3. Type the following commands and press the Enter key after each command.
  4. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter
  5. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter
  6. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter
  7. Restart Computer.

Once computer completely reboots, relaunch Steam client and then check if Steam Error code 7 on Windows 10 still occurs.

Solution 4: Reset Network

If you are unable to load web pages on Steam and getting error code 7, try to reset network settings. Most of the time, resetting refreshes the network settings and can fix network related issues on Steam servers

To do this:

  1. Press Windows key or Start tab located at the lower left.
  2. Click on Settings, an icon that looks like a gear to open Windows Settings.
  3. At Windows Settings window, click Network & Internet.
  4. At right pane, scroll down and click Network Reset.
  5. Click Reset now tab. Computer will restart after the process. Wait for it to complete.

Solution 5: Reinstall Steam Client

If none of the solutions mentioned above did not fix Steam Error code 7 Failed to load web page , try to uninstall steam, then reinstalling steam client and check if the error will be fixed.

To do this:

  1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open RUN dialog box.
  2. At RUN dialog box, type “appwiz.cpl” and hit Enter or click OK to open Programs and Features section.
  3. Inside Programs and features, scroll down and locate Steam app
  4. Right click on Steam and click Uninstall.
  5. A prompt message appears, click Uninstall to confirm. Wait for the uninstall process to complete.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. After computer completely reboot, go to steam website from here
  8. Click Install steam to download and reinstall steam latest version

Relaunch Steam client and then check if Steam Error code 7 on Windows 10 still occurs.
