How to fix screen flickering issue on your Samsung Galaxy A20

How to fix Galaxy A20 with screen flickering issue

In troubleshooting your phone that has a screen flickering issue, you have to be thorough to know if this is just a problem caused by software-related problem or a hardware issue. Here are the things you need to do:

First solution: Force restart your phone

Before anything else, make sure to perform the forced restart to refresh the memory of your phone, reload all its apps and services, as well as rule out the possibility that this is just due to a minor firmware glitch. Here’s how you do it:

Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A20 logo shows on the screen.

Second solution: Run your phone in Safe mode

Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
Scroll to and then tap Apps.
Find and tap suspected app.
Tap Storage.
Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if the screen flickering still occurs even in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Delete the system cache to fix screen flickering

You need this to rule out the possibility that the screen flickering is due to some corrupt system cache. This doesn’t only delete the cache but also replaces it with a new one. What you have to do is restart your phone in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition from there. Here’s how you do that:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A20 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press Power key to select.
Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the screen flickering still occurs even after this, then try the next solution.

Fourth solution: Master reset your device

At this point, it’s necessary to reset your phone. It’s the solution you can do to rule out the possibility that it’s just an issue with the firmware. However, before the reset, make sure to create a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After that, remove both your google and samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A20 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
Press Power button to select.
Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the screen flickering issue continues even after this, then it’s a possible hardware issue. Bring your phone back to the store or shop so that a technician can fix it for you.
