How To Fix Oppo A7x Screen Flickering Issue

The #Oppo #A7x is a mid-range Android smartphone model released late last year. This phone has a 6.3 inch LTPS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It uses a dual rear camera system and a single 16MP front camera. Under the hood is a Mediatek MT6771 Helio P60 combined with 4GB of RAM which should allow apps to run smoothly. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Oppo A7x screen flickering issue.

How To Fix Oppo A7x Screen Flickering Issue

Before you do  the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem I suggest that you make sure that the device is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then you should download and install it first. Once the phone is already running on the latest software version it’s time to troubleshoot the device.

This screen flickering issue is usually caused by a software glitch which is why we will be concentrating our troubleshooting efforts on the software side of the device.

Perform a soft reset

One of the first things you will need to do is to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This will usually resolve issue caused by minor software glitches.

• Press and hold the Power a key for up to 45 seconds.
• Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the screen still flickers.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded can cause this particular issue. To check if this is the case you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

• Turn Off your phone.
• Press and Hold Power Button.
• Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
• Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

If your phone starts in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.

Finding the particular app is a trial and error method. Start by uninstalling the most recent app you downloaded before the problem occurred then check if the screen still flickers. Repeat this step until the issue will not occur anymore after uninstalling a particular app. This last app is most likely the cause of the problem.

Wipe the cache partition

There are instances when a corrupted system cached data can cause this problem. It’s therefore a good idea to delete this data as the phone will just rebuild this data when it starts again.

• Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
• Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
• Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
• Select language.
• Select Wipe Cache Partition.
• Tap ok
• Reboot the phone.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider to fix the Oppo A7x screen flickering issue is a factory reset. This will bring your phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process .

• Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
• Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
• Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
• Select language.
• Select  Wipe data and Wipe data (Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
• Tap ok
• Reboot the phone.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already.
