Solution: Before performing any troubleshooting steps on the phone it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then make sure to download and install it.

What you will need to do first in this case is to check if you have blocked the app notification from the phone settings.

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Notifications
  • Search for the app you are having a problem with then tap the slider to turn on enable notifications

In case the notification switch is already on and the issue still persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Try to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. While this is effective when fixing an unresponsive device it is also recommended for this particular issue.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Once the phone starts try to check if the issue still occurs.

Clear the cache and data of the app

Sometimes the issue could also be caused by corrupt temporary data within the app itself. TRy to check if this is the case by clearing the cache and data of the app.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > Apps.
  • Tap the desired application in the default list.
  • To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
  • Tap Storage > CLEAR CACHE > CLEAR DATA > DELETE

Check if the issue still occurs.

Uninstall the app then download it again

To make sure that your phone is using the latest version of the app and to eliminate the possibility of the app being corrupted you should uninstall it from the phone then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > Apps.
  • Tap the desired application in the default list.
  • To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
  • Tap UNINSTALL > OK.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

The phone will store cached data of apps in a dedicated partition in its internal storage. This data helps apps open faster making for a better mobile experience. There are however instances when this cached data can become corrupted and can cause issues with the device. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you should wipe the cache partition of the phone.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider if the above steps fails to fix the problem is a factory reset. This will revert the phone back to its original factory condition. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.

  • Make sure that the phone is off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
  • Download the app again from the Google Play Store then immediately check if the issue still occurs.

In case the issue still persists after performing the above steps and if it only occurs in this particular app then you should contact the app developer regarding this problem.
