How To Fix Samsung Galaxy J6 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: My Samsung J6 drains charge like crazy one minute I have 50%, then a minute later it says 27% and then suddenly 3% and lately when my Samsung has reached 26% and I’m doing something on my phone it’ll freeze. The home button still reacts but the screen doesn’t, then after a minute the screen turns black and I can still feel the vibration when I press on the home button and after that it completely dies. No reaction, nothing and during this whole time, I can turn the phone off, do a soft reset or even a hard reset because it doesn’t react. Ā Also my phone has been showing the warning sign often when charging (yellow with an exclamation mark).

Solution: Before troubleshooting this particular issue you will need to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. Check if there is an update available then install and download it to your phone. Once your phone is already running on the latest software version you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Start the Galaxy J6 in Safe Mode

The first thing that you need to do is to check if an app you downloaded is causing this problem. When you start the phone in Safe Mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run making it easier to check if the problem is caused by a downloaded app.

  • Power off your device by holding down the Power button and then tapping on Power off.
  • Power on your device by holding down the Power button. As soon as the Samsung Logo pops up, press and hold down the Volume Down key until your device is rebooted.
  • You will now be able to see Safe Mode down the near the bottom left of the screen.

In case you donā€™t experience the problem in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the Galaxy J6

Sometimes the temporary data of the system can cause this particular problem especially if it has been corrupted. To eliminate this possibility you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset on Galaxy J6

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This will allow you to eliminate any software related glitches that could be causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will be deleted in the process.

  • Open the apps drawer
  • Launch ā€œSettingsā€
  • Go to ā€œCloud and accountsā€
  • Tap ā€œBackup and restoreā€
  • Optionally, turn ā€œBack up my dataā€ and ā€œRestoreā€ On or Off
  • Return to ā€œSettingsā€ and access ā€œGeneral Managementā€
  • Tap ā€œResetā€ – ā€œFactory data resetā€
  • Tap ā€œReset deviceā€
  • If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password to proceed
  • Tap ā€œContinueā€ – ā€œDelete allā€ to confirm

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty hardware component.
