How to fix Samsung Galaxy A30 that keeps freezing

We will try to look into each possibility and rule them out one by one until we can determine what the problem is and hopefully fix it. Troubleshooting Galaxy A30 that keeps freezing

In troubleshooting a phone with performance issues, you need to be thorough as you may end up losing some of your important files and data. But don’t worry for as long as the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way, you should still be able to fix this problem easily.

First solution: Force restart your phone

The first thing that you should do if your phone keeps freezing is to perform the forced reboot. It’s a simulated battery removal that refreshes the phone’s memory as well as reloads its apps and services. If this is just a minor problem with the firmware, you should be able to fix it just by doing this procedure.

Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A30 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has finished rebooting, use it as you normally does to know if it still keeps freezing. If it does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Run your phone in Safe mode

There are times when third-party apps cause the phone to freeze and lag especially heavy game apps. We need to know if it’s the case because if it is, then the problem is pretty easy to fix. So, run your phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all download applications. This is how you do that:

Press and hold the Power key until options show.
Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the phone works properly while in safe mode, then it means that there’s an app that’s causing the problem. Follow these steps to probe further:

Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone started to keep freezing.
Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
Scroll to and then tap Apps.
Find and tap suspected app.
Tap Storage.
Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if your device still keeps freezing even in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset all settings

Before troubleshooting the firmware, rule out the possibility that this problem is just due to some incorrect settings. To do this, you have to reset all settings in your device. This will bring the phone back to its factory default settings without deleting your personal files and data. Here’s how it’s done on your Galaxy A30:

Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
Scroll to and tap General management.
Touch Reset.
Tap Reset settings.
Tap the Reset settings button.
If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
Finally, tap Reset.

After this and your phone still keeps freezing, move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Wipe cache partition to fix phone that keeps freezing

By wiping the cache partition of your phone, you’re ruling out the possibility that this problem is due to some corrupt system caches. The system cache consists of hundreds of small files that are used by the firmware to make your phone run smoothly after the first boot. However, there are when these files get corrupted. You need to delete the old cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. Here’s how you do that:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press Power key to select.
Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has successfully rebooted, try to see if your phone still keeps freezing and if so, then the next solution needs to be done.

Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

A master reset will fix any firmware issue provided that the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way. Before the reset, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted and you may not be able to recover them after that. After the backup, remove your Google and Samsung accounts and then follow these steps:

Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
Press Power button to select.
Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.
