Being one of the most popular launchers, millions of people are using the Nova Launcher and while there’s a good group of developers that make sure it works perfectly, some users still actually encounter a problem or two. Such is the case with some of the users of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. How to fix Galaxy S9 Plus with Nova Launcher that keeps crashing
First solution: Restart your Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
You must begin your troubleshooting with a reboot because if this is a minor issue, there’s a chance a simple reboot can fix it especially if this is the first time that the problem occurred. So, hit that power key to restart your device and after which tap the Home button to trigger Nova Launcher. If the problem continues, try doing the Forced Reboot which is more effective than the normal reboot.
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys together for 10 seconds or more.
If the problem still occurs after this, then move on to the next solution.
Second solution: Reset Nova Launcher
Doing this will bring the launcher back to its original settings or configuration. A reset in apps means to clear their caches and data. If this this problem is indeed just a minor app issue, then this procedure can fix it. Here’s how you do it:
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Find and tap Nova Launcher.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
- Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
- Reboot your phone.
If the problem continues after doing this, then the next solution has a higher probability of fixing it.

Third solution: Uninstall Nova Launcher and then reinstall it
Usually, I would suggest updating the app in question to rule out the possibility that this is just a compatibility issue with the firmware. In this case, however, I suggest you uninstall Nova Launcher to remove all its associations with other apps and services and then download and reinstall it to make sure you have the latest version of the app.
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
- Tap App Manager.
- Locate then tap Nova Launcher.
- Tap UNINSTALL.
- Review the notification then tap OK to confirm.
- Reboot your phone to refresh it’s memory and other connections.
Now, to make sure you have the latest version of the app in your phone, download a fresh copy from the Play Store and install it.
- From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
- Tap Play Store.
- Type ‘nova launcher’ in the search box.
- Select Nova Launcher then tap Install.
- To continue, review the required app permissions then tap Accept.
The first three solutions should be enough to fix a minor problem like this. However, if by any chance the issue continues to bug you and you badly need to use the app, then a reset would be worth it.
Fourth solution: Reset your Galaxy S9 Plus
A master reset is more than enough to solve app-related issues but if the issue continues after the third solution, then you have no other choice. However, make sure you backup your files and data as they will be deleted during the reset and you may not be able to retrieve them after.
After the backup, disable the Factory Reset Protection by removing your Google account from your phone so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. After doing all this, then you’re ready to do the master reset:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
