How to Fix iPhone 17 Pro Siri Not Responding to Siri Wake Word

A number of iPhone 17 Pro users report that Siri no longer responds to the wake word or only responds to one activation phrase. These fixes can restore Siri’s voice recognition functionality.

Fix #1: Re-Enable “Siri” Wake Word

After an update, the Siri activation settings on the iPhone 17 Pro may have been reset.

1. Go to Settings > Siri & Search.
2. Turn off Listen for “Siri” or “Hey Siri”.
3. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
4. Follow the voice training prompts to re-register your voice.

Fix #2: Force Restart

Siri’s voice recognition engine can get stuck. A force restart reinitializes it.

1. Press and quickly release Volume Up.
2. Press and quickly release Volume Down.
3. Hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

Fix #3: Change Siri’s Language and Change It Back

This forces Siri to re-download its voice recognition model.

1. Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Language.
2. Change to a different language (e.g., English UK).
3. Wait a moment, then change it back to your original language.
4. Re-enable “Listen for Siri” and retrain your voice.

Fix #4: Update iOS

1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
2. Install any available update.

Fix #5: Reset All Settings
