How to Fix iPhone 17 Pro System Sounds Volume Too Low
Some iPhone 17 Pro owners have noticed that system sounds, ringtones, or call audio are significantly lower than expected. The following fixes address common audio issues.
Fix #1: Check the Volume and Silent Switch
Make sure the iPhone 17 Pro is not on silent mode and the volume is turned up.
- Check the Ring/Silent switch on the left side of the phone. If you see orange, the phone is on silent.
- Press the Volume Up button to increase the volume.
- Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider to the right.
Fix #2: Force Restart
Audio driver glitches can cause low volume, no sound, or distorted audio. A force restart resets the audio stack.
- Press and quickly release Volume Up.
- Press and quickly release Volume Down.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
Fix #3: Check Bluetooth Audio Routing
Audio may be routing to a connected Bluetooth device instead of the phone speaker.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth and check for connected devices.
- Disconnect any audio devices you are not actively using.
Fix #4: Clean the Speaker Grilles
Dust and debris in the speaker openings can reduce volume significantly. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the speaker grilles at the bottom of the phone and the earpiece at the top.
Fix #5: Update iOS
Audio bugs including volume inconsistencies are commonly fixed in iOS updates.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Install any available update.
Fix #6: Reset All Settings
If the audio issue started after an update, a settings reset can fix it.
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.
