M8 Keyboard Not Typing Certain Letters

Problem: My keyboard will not type the letters p or y while in the vertical position it always does an o for the p button and a t or u for the y button. Also many games and apps that require swiping don’t work. With the apps it seems like there is an invisible line down the center that won’t allow me to swipe across. I have no cracks or scratches on my screen and minor dents and scratches around the edges of the phone. Which I believe is made of metal.

Solution: It appears that the display of your phone may be damaged. However, you should first rule out any software related causes to this problem by doing a factory reset first. Make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding as this will be deleted.

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.

If you are still experiencing the same issue after the factory reset then there is a possibility that the display may be defective. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

M8 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: I do not receive text messages when they are sent to me. The only time I get the them is when I am in a phone call. Then they all arrive at once. I can send texts just fine.

Solution: Your phone may not have the correct radio receiving signal level which is the reason why you are not getting text messages. When you are on a call the phone will boost the radio receiving signal level to create a good call connection and with this boosted signal the text messages will arrive.

Before ruling this as a hardware related issue try to check first if this is caused by your phone software.

First, wipe the cache partition of your phone to eliminate any problems caused by a corrupt temporary data.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.

If the problem still persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

M8 Pictures Sent Through Text Not Showing

Problem: Keep getting pictures sent to me but they don’t show up but she will screenshot it and send that she sent it and the screen shot comes through Idk what to do .

Solution: There are two things that you need to satisfy in order to receive the pictures. First, you need to have a mobile data subscription and you need to turn on the phone’s mobile data feature. Second, your phone should have the correct APN settings that your phone is using.

To access your phone APN follow the steps listed below.

  • From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Connections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.

Compare your phone APN settings to that of your carrier and make the necessary changes. You can get the carrier settings from their website or by calling their technical support hotline.

M8 Freezes Then Shuts Down When Sending Text Message

Problem: I have already done a factory reset on my phone I even used my warranty to hopefully solve the problem, but didn’t work anyways the problem is when I’m texting it will freeze and shut down and won’t save what I’ve already text happens to me and my son often. Not sure what more to do I’ve talked to several people w customer support and I still have the same problems please help

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset it is unlikely that this is a software related issue. Try doing another round of factory reset then  use a different SIM card and different microSD card on your phone. Send a text message then observe if the issue still occurs. If it still does then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

M8 Does Not Send Text Messages

Problem: Hi my phone just stopped sending messages yesterday. I thought it might be a connection problem so I didn’t think much of it however, I’m at my house and I have signal but it still won’t send the message and instead it will try to for about one minute before flashing a red triangle with an exclamation mark and declaring that it was unable to send after multiple attempts. I’d like to avoid going to AT&T if I can. Is there anyway you might be able to help me fix this?

Thanks!

Solution: Try to reboot your phone then check if the issue is still the same. Make sure your phone has a signal before sending a text message. Rebooting usually resolves this type of problem as it refreshes your connection to the network.

You should also contact AT&T and inquire if there are any network related issues in your area. You should also have the check your account for any issues.

If a reboot does not solve the issue then try to use another app in sending a message. If you are using the stock messaging app then try to switch to Hangouts. This way you can easily check if the problem is with the app.

If you can send a message with Hangouts then you need to clear the cache and data of your stock messaging app as it may have some corrupt data stored in it causing this problem.

  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear Data.
  • Tap OK.
  • Tap Clear Cache.

If however you still can’t send a text message using Hangouts then try checking your phone message center number as this may have been changed.

  • From the home screen, tap Messages
  • Tap the three dots on the right side
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Text Messages (SMS)
  • Tap SMS Settings
  • Check if the Service Center is +13123149810 (make the necessary corrections)

If your phone has the correct service center number then try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

If the problem persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
