Intermittent signal fix #1: Confirm network service is up-and-running
In most cases, intermittent signal issue is caused by poor or weak signal, or by other network problems. For this reason, the first troubleshooting step that you can do is to confirm if you are in a location with poor signal coverage, or if your network is having an outage. You don’t want to look into your device when the problem is something that’s outside of it.
If you are in a building and your device regularly gets weak cellular signal, that can be the most likely reason for your Galaxy S10 intermittent signal issue. Unfortunately, there’s nothing much that you can do about it. All you have to do is to relocate to an area in the building that has better coverage.

Intermittent signal fix #2: Restart device
If you are positive that the signal where you’re at is excellent (as indicated by strong signal bars), then the next troubleshooting step that you can do is to do soft reset. This is basically a restart but you have to do it in a way that it simulates the effects of a “battery pull” procedure. With older devices, you can just disconnect the battery to do this kind of restart. Since you have a non-removable battery pack, all you can do is perform the virtual equivalent of the procedure. You can do that by doing the following steps:
- Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons for approximately 12 seconds or until the device power cycles. Note: Allow several seconds for the Maintenance Boot Mode screen to appear.
- From the Maintenance Boot Mode screen, select Normal Boot. Note: Utilize the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the lower left button (below the volume buttons) to select. Allow up to 90 seconds for the reset to complete.
- If Maintenance Boot Mode screen won’t show, then your device does not have it. Simply wait for the device to power down completely.

Another basic software troubleshooting that you can do in this case is to clear the current network settings. This can sometimes work in cases wherein there’s a network bug due to incorrect settings, or if there’s changes that doesn’t work. Here’s how to do it:
- Open Settings app.

In this mode, all third party apps will be suspended. So, if Intermittent signal bug won’t show up while your S10 runs on safe mode, that’s a clear indication of a bad app issue.
Here’s how to boot to safe mode:
- Press and hold the Power button until the Power off window appears then release.
- Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
- To confirm, tap Safe mode.
- The process may take up to 30 seconds to complete.

To ensure that your phone’s system cache is fresh, you can wipe the cache partition. This will force the phone to delete the current cache and replace it with a new one over time.

- Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
- While still holding the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
- The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
