Galaxy Tab S6 Keeps Freezing? Try These Five Solutions To Fix It

When a premium tablet like the Galaxy Tab S6 keeps freezing, the problem can be with the software. It can be due to a minor firmware glitch, insufficient internal storage, outdated firmware, or the device just needs to be reset to make it work perfectly again.

Samsung’s latest high-end tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6, comes packed with really impressive hardware specs. Needless to say, it’s powerful and users can expect to have really good experience with it as it should work smoothly. However, some owners are bugged by freezing issues.

Performance issues aren’t really that serious. Most of the time, they’re just due to some pretty minor firmware-related problems that can be fixed easily. Try to see if the solutions below can help you fix your tablet.

  1. Perform the Forced Restart

    It is because performance-related issues are often due to minor firmware problems, and if that’s the case here, then this procedure should be able to fix it. Here’s how you do it:

    1. Press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 10 seconds. This will trigger the device to shut down and power back up. 
    2. When the logo shows, release both keys and wait for your tablet to finish booting up. 

    If your tablet still keeps on freezing after this, then try the next solution.

  2. Check the internal storage

    If you’ve been using your tablet for several months already, it’s possible you’ve almost used up the internal storage. The thing is that your tablet may have some performance issues if there’s not much space to store caches and files. So, check the storage and see if there’s still enough space. 

    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and tap the Settings icon. 
    2. Scroll down a bit and tap Device care. 

    On this screen, you’ll immediately see if your device is running out of storage. If so, then delete some of your files that aren’t that important, or uninstall apps you don’t use anymore.

  3. Check for new updates

    If your device still has sufficient storage space, the next thing you need to do is check for new firmware updates. Many of performance-related issues are due to firmware problems, which are often fixed through patches and updates. 

    1. From the Device care screen, go back to the main Settings page. 
    2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Software update. 

    Now check if there’s an available update for your tablet. If there is, download and install it.

  4. Reset the settings of your tablet

    If the problem isn’t due to insufficient storage space or outdated firmware, It is possible that some of the settings in your tablet are causing this problem. So, if doing the forced restart didn’t fix the issue, then you should reset all the settings in your tablet to see if it helps. Here’s how: 

    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. 
    2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. 
    3. Scroll to and tap General management. 
    4. Touch Reset. 
    5. Tap Reset settings. 
    6. Tap the Reset settings button. 
    7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
    8. Finally, tap Reset.

    After resetting the settings, observe your tablet closely to see if it still freezes. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

  5. Factory reset your tablet

    Performance issues can always be fixed by a reset but we often don’t suggest it without exhausting all possible solutions. But it seems like that’s the only option you have now. So make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as you may not be able to retrieve them after the reset. When ready, follow these steps to reset your tablet. 

    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap the Settings icon. 
    2. Find and tap General management. 
    3. Touch Reset.
    4. Tap Factory data reset. 
    5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Reset.  
    6. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
    7. Tap Delete all.
    8. Now enter your Samsung account password to begin the reset.
