How to fix Galaxy Note10+ camera problems | camera keeps crashing or camera has stopped

Are you having camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+? This troubleshooting article should help.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #1: Get the error

There can be many forms of camera problems. If your Galaxy Note10+ displays an error message or code when it encounters a particular camera issue, you must take note of it. Error codes or messages are usually key to fixing problems. What you need to do in this case is to get the error, do a Google search for it, and follow online suggestions to fix it. If the code is common, some users may have reported it already and a fix may be available online.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #2: Restart device

In many cases, camera problems go away after restarting the device. If there’s no camera error on your Galaxy Note10+ and problems are still there, the next good thing that you can do is to reboot the phone. This can work if the cause of the problem is a temporary bug that causes the system to freeze or become unresponsive. If you haven’t tried this yet, be sure that you do it this time. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap the 3-dot at the top.
  4. Select Auto restart.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #3: Restart camera app

At other times, restarting the camera app itself fixes things. Try to force quit the app and see what happens. This can sometimes fix issues due to minor or temporary bugs that may have developed. This is how it’s done:

  1. On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the Settings app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously. Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.

Another way to force close an app is this:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap Camera app.
  6. Tap Force Stop.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #4: Clear camera cache and data

Camera problems on Galaxy Note10+ may sometimes be a product of bad app cache. To check if the camera app cache needs updating or refreshing, delete it with these steps below. Don’t worry, this troubleshooting step won’t erase your photos and videos.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap Camera app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart the phone and check for the problem.

If clearing the cache won’t help, follow it up by resetting the app to its defaults.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
  4. Tap Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap Camera app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear data button.

Either of these two troubleshooting steps won’t affect your personal data but we highly recommend that you create a backup ahead of time.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #5: Install updates

Installing updates can sometimes be an effective way to fix known problems. If you have pending updates at this time, you want to make sure that you install them. This goes true for both software and app updates. Be default, the Galaxy Note10+ is set to automatically tell you if there’s an available update, either for the software or apps. If you change this setting before, you can go ahead and manually check for updates.

To see if there’s software update available, go under Settings > Software updates.

For app updates, simply open the Play Store app and install updates for your apps from there.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #6: Refresh system cache

In order to load apps quickly, Android stores frequently used items like website links, images, videos, ads, among others in a part in internal storage called cache partition. Sometimes, these items collectively called system cache may get outdated or corrupted causing performance problems or bugs. To ensure that you phone runs efficiently and the cache in top shape, you want to regularly clear the cache partition (about once every few months). When dealing with any app issue, this can also be one of the troubleshooting steps. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  5. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe cache partition.’
  7. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  8. Press the Power button to confirm the action to clear the cache.
  9. Wait for a second as the system wipes the cache.
  10. Press the Power button again to reboot the device. This will return the device to the normal interface.
  11. That’s it!

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #7: Use camera on Safe Mode

If you started having camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+ after a new app is installed, you can delete that app and see what happens. If you can’t recall what app you may have installed, simply restart your phone to Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps, that is, apps you added after setting up the phone, will be suspended. If the camera problem you are experiencing is not there when device is running on safe mode, you can assume one of the third party apps is to blame. These are the steps to restart to safe mode:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
  7. Let your phone run, pull up camera app, and check for the problem.

If there are no camera problems at all and your Galaxy Note10+ works normally only on safe mode, you can continue to narrow down the suspected apps with these steps:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #8: Reset app preferences

Some camera problems are the result of some apps not working properly due to incorrect settings. Make sure to reset the software general app settings with these:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Reset app preferences.
  5. Restart your Galaxy Note10+ and check for the problem.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #9: Factory reset

Some camera troubles won’t go away unless you do something drastic. The final software troubleshooting that you can do here is factory reset. If the reason for camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+ is software in nature, there’s a big chance that master or factory reset will help.

Below are the two ways to factory reset your Note10+:

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy Note10+. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

  1. Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
  7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  5. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
  11. Follow the rest of the instructions to finish the task.

Galaxy Note10+ camera problems fix #10: Repair

Should none of the suggestions above work, there may be a deeper reason why you have camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+. Visit your local Samsung store or Service Center so the phone can be examined.
