How To Fix COD Vanguard High Packet Burst Error

Many Call Of Duty Vanguard players have reached out to us to ask for solutions regarding the annoying “high packet burst” error when playing either Multiplayer or Zombies. The COD Vanguard packet burst error is typically the result of a packet loss while in the middle of gameplay, although  some players are also saying that they’re getting it even when they’re just waiting in the lobby.

What is COD Vanguard High Packet Burst error?

Packet Burst error is one of the common connection problems many players encounter during  and after the launch of Call Of Duty Vanguard. It’s usually an indication of a server-side bug, which is often triggered when a game software running on a PC or console is unable to maintain a solid communication with the servers.

How to fix COD Vanguard High Packet Burst error?

Even weeks after the final build of Call of Duty Vanguard has been released, many players are  still experiencing this bug. If you’re dealing with the COD Vanguard packet burst issue at the  moment, check out the solutions that you can try on your end.

Fix #1: Check the Call of Duty Vanguard server status.

Before doing any advanced troubleshooting, you want to make sure that there’s no clear indication of an on-going server outage. There’s no point in doing anything else when the main cause of the problem is something outside your control.

To check the Call Of Duty Vanguard server status, you can visit the official Activision website.

Fix #2: Troubleshoot your internet connection.

If the Call Of Duty Vanguard servers are clear, the next step that you want to do is to check your internet connection at home. It’s possible that you may be experiencing slow or intermittent connection, or your network device may have become  unresponsive. It can also be caused by poor wifi signal if you rely on wireless connection on your  PC or console.

Power cycle the modem or router.

Firstly, you want to refresh your modem or router.

This classic troubleshooting step can sometimes fix network issues, especially when it involves a non-responsive or lagging modem or router.

Check your internet speed.

The online modes of Call Of Duty Vanguard (Multiplayer and Zombies) require a reliable and fast internet connection in order to work. Ideally, your PC  or console should have a minimum of 15 Mbps for download and upload when you’re playing online.

If you seem to be only experiencing the Packet Burst error message only during certain hours of the day, like when everyone’s around and using their smartphones and computers, it’s possible that you have a poor internet connection or bandwidth issue.

Run a speed test on your console or PC  to check your download and upload speed. If any or both of your download and upload are way below the recommended minimum, then consider improving the situation by disconnecting other devices from the network.

Do not use wifi.

Using a wired ethernet connection when playing is a lot more stable compared to wifi.

Wifi  signals can be interrupted by a lot of things and the frequent signal disruption can lead to connection problems such as the High Packet Burst issue.

Use another network connection.

Some players managed to fix their COD Vanguard packet burst problem by using a different connection type like mobile data hotspot instead of wifi. While this is definitely not applicable for everybody, consider doing it if you’re running out of option.

Fix #3: Disable On-Demand Texture Streaming option.

On-Demand Texture Streaming is an option that lets your PC or console download an improved color palette during gameplay to give you a much more vibrant and realistic display quality.

While this feature has its advantages, some players noted that their game experiences stuttering, lag, and infrequent high packet burst error when it’s enabled.

Disabling the On-Demand Texture Streaming option has been an effective COD Vanguard packet burst fix for some so it’s definitely worth trying at this point.

If you enabled this option in the past, we suggest that you turn it off under the Graphics tab in the Settings menu.

Fix #4: Delete and reinstall Call of Duty Vanguard.

If the Call Of Duty Vanguard packet burst error did not go away after disabling On-Demand Texture Streaming option, the problem is likely caused by a software bug. To fix it, you need to reinstall Call Of Duty Vanguard.
