The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7Edge is the bigger brother to the S7 both of which were released in 2016. Despite the fact that this is already a two year old model it can still perform quite well due to the powerful hardware architecture that it uses as well as the constant software updates it keeps on getting. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 Edge not charging from wall charger issue and other related problems.

S7 Edge Not Charging From Wall Charger
Problem: Hi! I’ve been having this problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge for a couple of months. Out of nowhere, it stops charging on power sockets and the battery drains incredibly fast. Also, the phone is much slower. I’ve taken it to the Samsung store in London, since it’s still under warranty, but they can’t find anything after running the full diagnostics. It didn’t charge on their charging stations in store (except for the wireless ones), but it did with the representative’s cable… I lost hope of fixing it, pretty much carrying my cable around to charge on my computer at work throughout the day. I’ve recently gone on holiday abroad and the phone started charging and using up battery as normal without me doing anything and this lasted until a few days after I returned home. Now it’s back to charging on the computer only and it takes the whole day to get to 100%, only to last a couple of hours. I’ve gone through several of your articles and tried the proposed solutions, but none of them seem to be what I’m looking for. It would be great if you could think of something I haven’t yet. Thanks!
Solution: If the phone does not charge using a wired charger but charges using a wireless charger then there’s a possibility that the problem could be caused by a faulty charging port. Usually if this port has some dirt in it covering one of the pins you won’t be able to charge the phone. Try cleaning this port using a can of compressed air. In case the issue still occurs then we might be looking at a damaged charging port assembly here. You will need to have this port replaced at a service center.
Regarding the issue of the phone quickly losing battery charge this could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any apps in your phone after the reset instead try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to have the battery of your phone replaced as it could already be faulty.
S7 Edge Not Holding Charge
Problem: My S7 Edge was not holding a charge longer then about 3 hours and turning off when it still had 10% to 15% left. I had the battery replaced but it continues to do the same. I have had it for almost 2 years, but it still looks like new and works fine besides the charging issue.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has one then try removing this as this could be causing the problem. There’s also the possibility that a software glitch is the culprit. To check if this is the case you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. In case it does then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the power IC.
S7 Edge Power Button Not Working
Problem: My S7 Edge won’t turn back on! The power button is not working, the fingerprint scanner is not working. The power button hasn’t been working for a couple weeks now but it wasn’t too bad since I can use the home button to wake up the phone. Yesterday my phone died and I’ve been trying to turn it back on, I’ve tried the soft reset and that did not work. I plugged it into my computer and that also didn’t work, my computer shows that its connected to it but that’s about it. It will charge because when I plug it in the battery shows up but that’s as far as it will get.
Solution: Unfortunately in this case there’s no other choice but to have the power button of the phone repaired or possibly replaced at a service center since you won’t be able to turn on the phone with this button not working.
S7 Edge Freezes At Samsung Screen
Problem: The phone started off by freezing as it shut down for no reason. I tried to do the restart several times but couldn’t get past the samsung screen where it would freeze again. After that it went black and would no longer come on. I have tried charging and nothing has changed. I am not sure if it’s charging past 3%.
Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then I suggest that you remove it first. Once the card has been removed you need to connect the phone to its wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. When the phone has enough charge access the recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
