Note 4 Won’t Send Multimedia Pictures

Problem: My mom’s Samsung note 4 won’t send multimedia pictures and I don’t know how to fix this issue. Could you please assist me with this?

Solution: Before you are able to send a multimedia picture with your phone there are certain settings in your phone that you need to make sure are correct. First, you should have a mobile data subscription and you should make sure that the mobile data switch of your phone is activated. Next, and probably the most important, your phone should have the correct APN settings. These setting not only allow you to use the mobile data service of your carrier but also allows you to send and receive multimedia messages. I recommend that you use the stock messaging app of your phone when sending and receiving text messages.

Once you have made sure that your phone meets the conditions listed above and the issue still remains then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next troubleshooting step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then a downloaded app could be causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Takes Long Time To Send Text Message

Problem: Hi, 2 issues w my Note 4 both dealing with messaging. 1. When I type a message the “window” only shows 2 lines and I have to scroll up and down to see my message. 2. When I push send it can take 20 to 30 sec to send. Sometimes it times out but when I push send again it goes out immediately. Restarting the phone doesn’t fix the problems. Thanks

Solution: I’m assuming that you are using the stock messaging app that comes pre-installed in your phone. What you are going to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager. Once this is done proceed with checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Unable To Send Or Receive MMS

Problem: Hi,I’m unable to send/receive MMS messages on my Galaxy Note 4. It’s an unlocked device that was originally on Verizon (that what the device says on the back plate). I’m using Next SMS (the newer version of Handcent). I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting steps you suggested on the forum (enabling data usage, checking power saving modes, etc).

Solution: Since this was previously a Verizon device then you should check the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it is still not using the Verizon settings. If it is then you need to change this to the settings used by your carrier. You should also make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and that the mobile switch of your phone is turned on.

If your phone meets the above conditions and it still can’t send or receive MMS messages then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using the stock messaging app to send and receive MMS messages.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Text Messaging Slow After Software Update

Problem: Since the update to 6.01, I’ve had issues with battery draining too quickly, overheating, and very slow performance with the stock text/sms app.

Solution: The battery drain issue, overheating, and slow performance of the text messaging app might be caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed from your phone. This usually causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues. To troubleshoot this problem try updating your phone apps first by going to the My Apps section of the Google Play Store. If your apps are all updated and the issue still persists then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Verizon Phone Can’t Send Text Message When Used On Other Network

Problem: I am in the Bahamas and have and have temporarily replaced the Verizon sim card with a BTC sim card. I can get on the Internet and email, but not text. BTC says I need to change the message service number. In message settings, there is no message service center number section. What can I do? Thanks, Pattie

Related Problem: So I currently have a Verizon Phone I got from my mom because I lost mine with a cellcom plan. Celcom set it up for me placing a celcom in the phone but I a unable to send text messages, I can receive them just I am unable to send any…

Solution: In order for the phone to send a text message it must be set to use the message center number of the carrier that it is on right now. While changing the message center number of the phone is as easy as changing it from the phone settings Verizon is notorious for locking down some of the phone settings making it impossible to change. To fix this try dialing *#*#4636#*#* from your keypad then look for the option that says Device Information until you get to the part that says SMSC. Change the value to the message center number of your network. Once this is done try to check if you are now able to send out a text message.

You should also try turning off the LTE service of your phone then check if you can now send a text message.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: I can’t receive text from anyone. All my text are going out though and I can receive from one person who happens to have an iPhone bUT from no one else , even on wifi.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if you have placed certain numbers in the block list of your phone. Next, you should try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app. If possible delete all text messages from your phone ( make a backup of the messages before doing this if you would like to have a copy) then check if you can now receive text messages.

If the problem persists then start your phone in Safe Mode. If you can receive text messages in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app installed on your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step that you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before performing this step.
