Fixing Youtube keeps crashing issue on Galaxy S10 Plus
I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Galaxy S10 Plus with Youtube keeps crashing problem. We will rule out each possibility until we can determine the problem and eventually fix it. With that being said, here are the things you need to do if Youtube keeps crashing on your phone…
First solution: Force restart your device first
If it’s the first time you encountered this problem, odds are that it could be just a result of a minor firmware glitch. Glitches happen all the time but they’re easy to fix. In fact, a simple reboot can fix them but in this case, it’s better to perform the forced reboot procedure as it’s far more effective than the normal restart. Here’s how it’s done:
- Press and hold the volume down and power keys together for 10 seconds or more.
Your phone will restart like it normally does but its memory will be refreshed an all its apps and services reloaded including Youtube. Most of the time, app crashes can be fixed by this procedure so once your device becomes active, try opening Youtube and see if it still crashes. If Youtube keeps crashing still, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear cache and data of Youtube apps
If Youtube keeps crashing still after the first procedure, then the next thing you need to do is troubleshoot the app itself. Try resetting it so that it will be reverted back to its default settings and configuration. It means that you have to clear its cache and data so that they will be replaced with new ones. Don’t worry, none of your files, videos or playlists would be deleted if you did this.
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
- Find and tap Youtube.
- Tap Storage > CLEAR CACHE > CLEAR DATA > DELETE.
After doing this procedure, try opening the app and see if it still closes on its own or displays the error message “Youtube has stopped.” If the problem persists, move on to the next procedure.
Third solution: Update Youtube if possible
After clearing its cache and data and Youtube keeps crashing still, then it’s time to see if there’s an update available for it. While it’s a Google app, updates are still being rolled out for individual apps especially for Youtube as it’s widely popular. Updates can fix problems like this and it might be what you need to get this problem sorted out. Here’s what you need to do:
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Play Store > Menu > My Apps.
- To auto-update apps, tap Menu > Settings > Auto-update apps.
- Find and tap Youtube and then tap Update to update a single application.
However, if Youtube keeps crashing even after updating it or if there’s no available update for it, then try the next procedure.

Fourth solution: Delete the system cache
App crashes can also be caused by corrupt system cache. These are temporary files that are created by Android itself to make your phone run smoothly after the first reboot. By deleting the system cache, you’re actually instructing your phone to rebuild it thus, replacing the old one. This is how you do it on your Galaxy S10 Plus with Youtube keeps crashing issue:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
Open Youtube after this to know if it still crashes. If it still does, then you have no other choice but to perform the master reset.
Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone
After doing the first four procedures and Youtube keeps crashing still, then you have to troubleshoot the firmware because the crashes may be just a result of a firmware issue. As I said earlier, Youtube is a core application that comes with every Android device and thus, it’s deeply embedded in the system. A master reset will most likely fix this problem however, make sure to create a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After which, remove your Google account from your device so that you won’t trip the Factory Reset Protection. It’s possible that you will be locked out of your device if FRP is tripped. Once everything is set, follow these steps to reset your phone:
- Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
