Wireless earbuds right now are going through a sort of innovation revolution. First, we saw the Apple AirPods launch a couple of years ago, which was a massive technical innovation, largely because of the sheer amount of battery power inside them, among other reasons.

That said, we’ve seen all sorts of earbuds launch ever since they hit the market, essentially trying to copy off of Apple’s design, and even address some of the pain points of the AirPods.
One of those earbuds taking on the Apple AirPods is Xiaomi’s own AirDots, which are also phenomenal headphones. So, if you’re not sure which ones that you should pick up, follow along with us below — we’re pitting the two wireless headphones against each other and seeing which comes out on top.
Xiaomi AirDots vs Apple AirPods Best Wireless Headphone
One of the cool things about the Apple AirPods is how well they work with the iPhone. There’s a W1 chip that connects together with the W1 chip in the iPhone to produce even better sound quality. But even though that is there, the Apple AirPods still connect up to Android devices just fine, and still sound great.
Apple has done a lot to make the Apple AirPods one of the most attractive wireless earbuds on the market. However, like anything, they do have their own “cons”. One of those major ones is in comfort. There are a lot of folks who love it, and then there’s another entire group of people that say they’re uncomfortable.
The Apple AirPods have even been known to irritate people’s ears, but that’s very much on a case-by-case basis. It all depends on who is using them, and how it fits in their ears.
One of the benefits to the Apple AirPods is the sheer amount of battery inside. The AirPods case itself has 24-hour battery life inside, and then there are five hours in the AirPods themselves. That said, you can get almost five charges out of the wireless charging case.
The case charges really quick — set the AirPods inside, and you can get a full charge in around 15 minutes.
Like we mentioned, these connect up easily to even Android devices. You’ll just need to press the button on the back of the charging case to initiate the Bluetooth connection. The AirPods still sound great, even if Android isn’t using that W1 chip for sharper audio processing.
Xiaomi’s AirDots are similar in function to the AirPods, but have a much different design. They take on a style that’s more similar to the Galaxy Buds or your standard earbud than anything.
These AirDots sport slightly more comfort than the AirPods, coming with an ear tip that sits comfortably in the ear. You can swap it out with other ear tips that might be more comfortable or fit better in your ears, too.
The Mi AirDots use something called true wireless stereo (TWS) technology, which works similar to the AirPods in that it splits audio in both earbuds to deliver a truly wireless experience. No wires offer your simplicity and convenience in all areas of life — for work, play, exercise, and more.
The Xiaomi AirDots actually sound excellent, though like the AirPods, they are going to have nothing on a full-size pair of over-ear headphones.
One of the cooler things about the Mi AirDots is that they run on Bluetooth 5.0 — that means that you’re consuming less power, and so these can last for longer. On top of that, they have much better range, which means you can walk further away from the device that you’re connected up to.
The major con to the Xiaomi AirDots is battery life — they have about half the battery life that the Apple AirPods sport, with just 12 hours in the case.
Who is the clear winner?
It’s always difficult to name a winner in earbud and headphone disputes, largely because of the subjectivity that comes with how audio sounds. We think both sound great, but the average person would be hard-pressed knowing the intricate differences between the two.
That said, looking at more objective areas, such as design, comfort, battery life, fitment, and ease of use, we think the Apple AirPods come in as the clear winner. It’s so nice to have 24 hours of battery life in the charging case, not having to worry about putting them on the charger at the end of the night, along with your other devices.
Verdict on The Xiaomi AirDots vs Apple AirPods
There are some pretty major differences between the Apple AirPods and the Xiaomi Mi AirDots. However, we think the AirPods take the cake here, largely due to the sheer amount of battery life packed into them. However, they are on the pricier side and aren’t always the most comfortable for some.
That said, we hope by outlining the pros and cons of each device, Xiaomi AirDots vs Apple AirPods, that you’ll be able to make a much easier decision.
