How To Add A Contact To Speed Dial Number In Samsung Galaxy

Speed dialing has been around for years and it’s a convenient way to save time when making a call to a contact you frequently ring. If you are new to Samsung Galaxy and you want to assign a contact to a Speed Dial number, this tutorial will walk you through the steps.

Adding a contact to a Speed Dial Number in a Samsung Galaxy

Assigning a contact to a Speed Dial number is easy. Learn how to do so below.

  1. Open the Phone app.


    This is the default Phone or Dialing app in any Samsung device. You can find the app in your Home screen or Apps Tray.

  2. Tap More settings.


    Tap the 3 dots at the upper right corner to pull up more options.

  3. Select Speed dial numbers.


    Select the first option that says Speed dial numbers.

  4. Select a Speed Dial Number.


    Tap the drop-down arrow and select the number you want.

  5. Add a contact.


    Assign a contact to a speed dial key by tapping on the Contacts icon.

  6. Find the contact.


    Look for the contact that you want to assign to a particular speed dial key. Tap the contact to add.

Alternatively, you can also add a contact to your speed dial number with these steps:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Press and hold the speed dial number you want. Number 1 is usually assigned as the default voicemail recovery key so you can only use Numbers 2-9 for speed dialing.
  3. Tap Assign.
  4. Tap on the contact you want to assign to a particular speed dial number.

How to make a call using Speed Dial

Once you’ve already assigned a contact to a Speed Dial number, do the following steps to make a call using your newly created speed dialing number: 

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Press and hold the speed dial number to begin the call.

If you created a double-digit speed dial number (10+), you can do the following to call it:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Touch the first digit of the speed dial number.
  3. Touch and hold the last digit to start the call.
  4. For example, if you want to call speed dial number 25, touch 2, and then touch and hold 5.

How to delete a Speed Dial number

Follow the steps below to remove a speed dial assignment:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap More settings at the upper right corner.
  3. Select Speed dial numbers.
  4. Touch the red minus sign next to the speed dial location you want to remove.
