Spotify keeps crashing on Galaxy S10 Plus

Third-party applications that keep crashing may have some issues with its cache or data files and while such problem is pretty annoying, it’s not that difficult to fix. Follow these procedures to try and fix Spotify keeps crashing problem on your device…

First solution: Force restart your phone first

There are times when a glitch occurs and results to an app crash and that could be the reason why Spotify keeps crashing on your Galaxy S10 Plus. That said, the first thing that I want you to do is force restart your device. This will refresh your phone’s memory and reload all its apps and services. If the problem is caused by a minor glitch, then this procedure will fix it.

  1. Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it.
  2. Now, press and hold the power key while holding the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down together until the Galaxy S10 Plus logo appears on the screen.

Just wait for your phone to become active and then open Spotify and see if it still crashes. If it still does, move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache to fix Spotify keeps crashing issue

There are times when the cache gets corrupted and when this happens, it would also result to an app crash. The cache is a collection of small files that’s created by the firmware to make the app run smoothly when you open it. Try deleting it so that the system will create a new cache. Here’s how it’s done on your Galaxy S10 Plus:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right corner.
  3. Scroll down and tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap on Spotify.
  5. Tap Clear cache.

After this, open the app to see if Spotify keeps crashing still after doing the procedure.

Third solution: Clear data of Spotify app

If clearing the cache didn’t fix the problem, then the next thing you have to do is clear the data. This will reset the app back to its factory defaults but beware because it will also delete all your download tracks if you have any. At this point though, you have no other choice and this procedure has a higher probability of fixing this problem. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right corner.
  3. Scroll down and tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap on Spotify.
  5. Tap Clear data and tap OK to confirm your action.

After this, reboot your phone to refresh its memory and then open the app to see if Spotify keeps crashing still after this. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Uninstall and reinstall Spotify

There are times when a problem is like this is caused by compatibility issues with the app but don’t worry as this procedure will cover that. After clearing the cache and data and Spotify keeps crashing still, then it’s time to uninstall it to remove the app and all its files as well as its associations with other services. And once you’ve reinstalled it, you can rest assured that you’re using the most recent version. Here’s how you do it:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Apps.
  3. Find and tap Spotify.
  4. Tap UNINSTALL > OK.
  5. Reboot your phone to refresh its memory.
  6. Once it becomes active, open Play Store.
  7. Search for spotify and then install it.

I am confident that this procedure will fix the problem. However, if Spotify keeps crashing continually after this, then it’s possible that the problem is just due to a firmware issue. In that case, move on to the next solution.

Fifth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

If all else fails and if you badly need to use Spotify, then you have take a little time backing up your files and data and then reset your phone. This will bring the phone back to its factory defaults as well as delete all your personal files, data and preferences. However, such procedure will fix the problem for sure.

After the backup process, make sure to remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. Once everything is set and ready, follow these steps:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all buttons.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
