S9+ Wi-Fi Turns Off When Phone Sleeps

Problem:  Hey! I have a big problem! I bought brand new Galaxy S9+ before 3 days. Everything was ok the first 10 minutes, after that my software updated and everything went wrong…When I turn on my Wifi, it lasted only 2 minutes, till my screen locks. After that I can’t even turn Wifi on. I must reboot my phone to turn it on. I cleaned the partitions, reseted my network settings, disabled wifi sleep mode,I even did a factory reset – the result is always the same. The wifi sleeping mode is turned off, but the moment my screen locks, Wifi turns off. When i click the wifi button, it shows a circle that my phone is trying to turn it on, but after 15 seconds it turns off again. I don’t have problems with 4g, only with Wifi. When I am using an app (Messenger, Viber, Chrome etc.) Wifi stays stable, but only then. It is so frustrating…I rebooted my router, tried to reconnect my S9+ via Wifi direct to my other phone- again lasted 2 minutes. The only time that wifi stays on longer is when my s9+ is charging. The settings for wifi sleeping mode are set to “stay on always”. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Solution: To troubleshoot this problem try checking if the issue occurs when the phone connects to a different Wi-Fi network. This way you are able to isolate your router. In case the issue still occurs when the phone connects to a different network then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the Wi-Fi remains on when the phone sleeps. Swipe down from the top of the screen then tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon. Tap the menu icon then tap on advanced. Tap view more then make sure that the setting for Keep Wi-Fi On During Sleep is on.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should have this checked at a service center.

S9+ Not Connecting To Xfinity Mobile Network After Factory Reset

Problem: After doing a factory data reset on my Samsung Galaxy S9 plus, I am unable to connect to my Xfinity Mobile Network.  The phone indicates a wifi connection but it is not working. My mobile network app has just disappeared from the apps list.  Also, I am unable to connect to Google Play store to download the app for Xfinity Mobile, After doing the reset None of the prompts that are described in the users manual come up to set up the device.  Is there a simple way to approach this? I cannot reset by removing the battery, because this model phone does not have that option. Also when it was working the battery drained very quickly. I just got this phone and it is very disappointing, considering the price, to be having this problem already, if ya know what I mean.  Please help if you can. It will be greatly appreciated.

Solution: When you performed a factory reset your phone settings changed to its default values. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform.

  • If the auto-connect to Xfinity WiFi is turned off then make sure to turn this on.
  • Go to your phone settings then make sure that location services is turned on.
  • If the Wi-Fi network in your area has low connectivity then your phone might not connect to the network. Try going to a different location then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Auto-connecting to a secure Xfinity Mobile network requires that you first configure a lock-screen code (a password or PIN).
  • A third-party app may be interfering. Try uninstalling any other WiFi connection management applications that were installed from the Google Play store.

If you are still having issues connecting to the network then contact an Xfinity Mobile Specialist at (888) 936-4698.

S9+ Not Connecting To Wi-Fi Network

Problem: I had problems on wifi after the last android update. I can connect on my home wifi, but i cannot connect on the wifi at work. So i did clear cache partition as mentioned. Then the wifi works again. BUT when i lose the connection to the wifi at work, i go back to the same problem. I did clear cache partition again, and it worked fine. It’s pretty annoying to clear cache always if i need to connect to the wifi at work. My home’s wifi works well with no problems at all. My other co workers can connect to the wifi normally, so i guessed this is a phone problem. Any solutions to this?

Solution: Try forgetting the work Wi-Fi from your phone then connect to it again. In case the issue still occurs  then this is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this problem.
