S9 Cannot Send Text Messages
Problem: Hi, I’m having problems with texting messages on my new Samsung S9 device. Just received the phone yesterday. I can receive texts and make calls however I can’t send. I followed your factory reset prompts precisely however I’m still having this problem. I’ve contacted my carrier and even got a new sim card. Also contacted samsung but they haven’t a clue. Still yet to walk into a samsung store to have the phone replaced. Please help.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that your phone has the correct message center number set. You can get this information from your carrier. To access the message center number of your phone follow the steps listed below.
- Tap Messages
- Press the Menu icon
- Press Settings
- Press More Settings
- Press Text Messages
- Press Message Center
- Change the message center number if necessary
In case you are still unable to send a text message then you need to contact your carrier regarding this matter.
S9 Text Messages Says Sending But Are Received By Recipient
Problem: I noticed this problem 3/14. I use the message+ app that came with the phone. My messages were saying “sending” however my recipients were receiving the messages. And every message I sent continued to say sending. I restart my phone and after a few minutes the issue was solved. then one friend asked me why I resent all my messages, and shortly after another friend sent a screenshot of my duplicated messages. The problem was fine until that night. I powered off and back on the phone this time and the same problem happened. And had continued into the next day. Then the next day the badge icon for the message+ app wouldn’t go away, unless I cleared it. Then I scrolled down from the top to change my keyboard but when I clicked on the keyboard in the notification center nothing happened. I tried multiple times. Then about 3 hours later the keyboard selection popped up while I was not on a keyboard screen. After closing it, it popped up 3 more times.
Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure that your phone is getting a good signal from the network as sometimes if the signal is spotty this problem could occur.
To fix this problem the first thing you need to do is to clear the cache and data of the Message+ app from the application manager. This will delete the temporary data stored in the app which might be corrupt. Check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9 Not Getting Text Message Notification
Problem: Recently upgraded to the S9 from the S8, i am not receiving notifications from my banks at all (few) i have gone through every setting possible on the phone to make sure that this is set to receive and allow etc. I have been onto my network provider O2 and they cannot come up with a solution either and my account looks fine from what they can see
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the text message notification setting of the phone is properly set.
- From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
- Tap Messages
- Tap the Menu icon
- Tap Settings
- Tap Notifications
- Tap the Messages switch making sure that it is on
- Tap App icon badges to turn it on
- Configure the aoud settings for each category (Emergency Alerts, General notifications, New messages)
In case the problem persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing a reset.
S9 Not Receiving Text From One Contact
Problem: Hi, all of a sudden I can not receive messages from one contact in my phone. I have even deleted the contact and tried to text it while it wasn’t saved. My phone will not let me hit the send button to text that particular number. It’s Not even on the blocked list. This is the first time that this has happened. I was just texting this number yesterday morning. I have also checked that person’s phone. Nothing is blocked on either phone
Solution: The first thing you need to do is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. If the problem still persists then you need to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
