Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Not Receiving All Group Text Messages

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that sports a bigger display than its predecessors. This phone now boasts of a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display that makes it perfect for viewing various multimedia content. The display size might be big but the overall dimensions of the phone is similar to the S7. This is made possible since this model does not have any physical buttons on the front and has very minimal bezels. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 not receiving all group text messages issue and other related problems.

S8 Not Receiving All Group Text Messages

Problem: I have 2 issues which constantly drive me crazy. Main issue: Group texting out of whack. I don’t receive all messages from my group or they come the next day. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. I have tried several different texting apps and still cannot have the issue resolved. I use Verizon phone services. I’ve tried deleting all other texts, etc and none of that helped either. Other issue, sometimes out of nowhere phone locks and I have to enter the password, it locks me out of biometric and have to manually enter password.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update. Second, make sure that your phone has a good mobile data connection. If the connection is not good then you might get delayed group text messages or not get them at all. To verify if this is a connection issue try going to a different location that’s getting a maximum LTE signal then check if the issue still occurs.

In case the problem still persists then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Message Plus Notification Not Working After Software Update

Problem: After the last update on my Samsung galaxy s8, the message plus app has not been running as it used to. I used to be able to set the led light to blink red for texts and blue for emails. After the update, it took away that option. Also the app on my home screen used to indicate how many texts were unread via a number in a red circle directly on the app. Now it doesn’t do that at all. I have to open my app first and the number appears on the text line. This is not helpful at all. I’ve tried every setting possible and can not get it back to the way I had it prior to the update. I am so frustrated, I went back to my old LG G4 and the message plus app is working as it used to on my Samsung s8. Is there a fix for any of this?? I’m not sure what android version I have it just says Verizon 7.0 in my phone settings about phone

Solution: It looks like this could be an app related problem. Try clearing the cache and data of this app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try uninstalling the app then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that this is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. To fix this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Unable To Send Text Messages After Software Update

Problem: Hi Since an update on my Samsung S8 today I have been unable to send text messages i can receive text but not send, the same applies to yahoo messenger. I have followed all the suggestions on your pages above and have now  done a full restore of my phone and checked all settings including the APN settings and they are correct an I am still unable to send text via messages can you please advise

Solution: If you have access to another phone then try taking out the SIM card of the S8 and place it in this other phone. Try sending a text message on this other phone with your SIM card inserted in it.  If you are still unable to send a text message then you should contact your carrier regarding this problem as it this could be an account related problem.

However if you can send out a text message with this other phone then the problem is with the S8. Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then I suggest you have this checked at a service center.
