Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Software Update Cannot Be Completed
The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year which is one of the most popular devices in the market today despite the fact that the S9 has already been released. This is a powerful model that sports a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display and uses a Snapdragon 835 processor. This device is powerful enough to handle even the most demanding apps available at the Google Play Store. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 software update cannot be completed issue and other related problems.
S8 Software Update Cannot Be Completed
Problem: I have been receiving the notification to do a software update for the last couple of months. Whenever I try to do a software update it goes through the process of updating and then gets to about 30% of the update before it finally gives me an error saying it cannot be completed. The phone didn’t reset and I didn’t get a notification that the update failed. What can I do to get this update done?
Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network. Do a soft reset by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons. As soon as the phone restarts try to manually update the phone software. In case the issue is still the same then try using the Smart Switch software to update your phone.
- Download and install the Smart Switch software from the Samsung website to your computer.
- Open the Smart Switch software then connect your phone using a USB cord to your computer.
- Once your phone is detected by Smart Switch you will be notified of a software update.
- Click Update to install the latest software. It will download first to your computer, then sideload to your phone.
In case the issue still persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete proceed with updating your phone software.
S8 Photos Are Missing After Restart
Problem: I have a Samsung S8. For awhile now, I have received the following message on a dark screen with no way out except to push Reset or Hard Restart: the operating system stops at a black screen with this message “Verification failed. Unable to restart your device. The integrity verification has failed. You need to reset your device.” Normally, I hard restart and it goes away…but last night we were having power outages, I was cooking for my daughter’s birthday today, and when I saw it I pushed the cussed Reset button as I was distracted. Suddenly, the little robot shows up on a white screen and cycles for 10 minutes stating, “Erasing”. I tried a hard shut off, back button, minimize, everything to no avail. When it came back online, it reinstalled everything with a newer look and more ads to erase. I was even able to recover my contacts, and my wallpaper of my daughter was there. HOWEVER, all my photos from my son’s party last month, our trip to Oregon, and to see the WWII bombers are gone. Why would it save my contacts and wipe my photos??? Can I recover my photos? I am heartbroken over this…my daughters birthday part is in 10 hours and I can’t even think straight…HELP! I also lost my texts….I will try anything. If you can help me recover my information, photos, etc on the phone, I would be so thankful. Thank you
Solution: Try restarting the phone in Safe Mode then check if the photos can be detected in this mode from the Gallery app. If the photos are available then I suggest that you make backup copies of these. In case the phone still can’t detect the photos then they might have been erased from the device. The contacts that you see in your phone are probably synced from your online account which is why they appear in your phone after the reset.
To prevent this issue from happening again I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset as I suspect that the problem is caused by a software glitch.
S8 Cannot Upload Videos
Problem: So my problem is uploading or sending videos. I noticed the problem first on facebook. I was able to upload pictures but not videos. I thought it was a facebook setting, but then I tried to email the a video to myself and all it says is that it is unable to attach file. This was only a 7 second video (2.9 mb). This is using a yahoo account. If I try sending it with a gmail account the file will attach but I never receive it. If I go to laptop and send email, it works. Same thing for facebook, I can upload a video and it works fine on laptop. Also if I try to use facebook messenger and attach a video or picture, it says error loading media. But if I go thru gallery and send it to messenger, the picture will go but the video still won’t go.
Solution: Try checking if you experience the same problem when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur then an app you downloaded might be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network. This way you can eliminate any connection related issues that could be causing this problem.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset as this might be caused by a software glitch. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S8 Screen Is Black But Notifications Are Working
Problem: I have been having a big issue with my phone; a Samsung Galaxy S8. As I was trying to copy something onto my Notepad & send a Message to someone, the Screen went partially Black. I have tried to touch the Screen, yet the effects of the Black particles kept on spreading. I am trying to reset it, by pressing the Keys on the Cellphone, but the Screen is still Black, yet the Lights under the Cellphone light up. What should I do? Thank you in advance.
Solution: For this particular issue you will have to do a soft reset on the phone first. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds or until the phone restarts. In case the screen is still black then try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a software glitch. You will need to do a factory reset in this mode if this is the case. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the screen still remains black then the display assembly might be damaged. You will have to bring this phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
