S8+ Charging Another Device Error

Problem: I am having issues charging my Galaxy S8 Plus. It was charging fine and then I removed it from the charger to go to another room. When I put it back on charge I get a message saying that my device is charging another device. Click USB options and select “charge this device” however, it reverts back to charging other device which is not connected. I have rebooted, started in safe mode, factory reset etc and still nothing. If I turn my phone off and charge, it will charge up by 1% then it goes blank, I then have to click the power button for it to charge another 1%. Help!

Solution: Your phone has a feature that allows it to charge another device connected to its charging port. Once you connect another phone to your S8+ using a USB-C cable a menu will pop up with the following options; Transfer media files, Transfer images, Connect MIDI device, Charge this phone, Charge connected device. The last option is what you will want to choose if you want to charge another device.

The problem that you are facing right now is that the phone is constantly trying to charge another device even if a charger is connected to it.

To troubleshoot this issue what you should do first is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. You should also try using a different charging cord to charge your phone as this cord might be causing the problem.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8+ USB Device Not Recognized

Problem: Randomly, my phone will get start showing a notification from Android System: “USB connector connected.”  Then about 2 seconds later,”USB connector disconnected.” Regardless of whether I plug in the charger or not, it will still show that, and regardless of what plug I use or using the USB port on my computer, it will still show and alternate that.  However, when I plug it into the PC, and I choose to have the USB “Charge this phone” after about 5 seconds, I’ll get “Incomplete connection, Make sure the charger is properly connected.” However, if I choose “File transfer”, I’ll get the Windows 10 PC I plugged it into to recognized the S8+; however, after about 5-10 seconds, I’ll get the USB connect tone, then disconnect, then notified: “USB device not recognized”.  That will happen every 30 seconds or so. Please advise…

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try using a different USB-C cord.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then your last option is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This way you can check if the problem is caused by a software glitch.

If the issue still persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
