Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 App Icon Badge Missing After Software Update

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is flagship phone released last year that offers several changes from its predecessor. It has a fresh design with the physical home button no longer present. The device is now able to cram in a large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display on a body that’s almost the same size as the S7. It also uses a powerful Snapdragon 835/ Exynos 8895 processor combined with 4GB of RAM which makes it run any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 app icon badge missing after software update and other related problems.

S8 App Icon Badge Missing After Software Update

Problem: I recently updated my Galaxy S8 and after the update I no longer see the icon for my notifications. So when i get a text message and go into the home screen there is no number on the app that shows there is a message. Or for my emails there is no number that says how many unread emails I have. I went into settings and made sure “app icon badges” was on. This problems only happens with a select number of apps,i think so far only with text messages and email.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check the app icon badges setting of the phone and make sure that it is in the on position.

  • Open the phone Settings
  • Tap on Display
  • Tap on Home Screen
  • Tap on App Icon Badges
  • Make sure that the App Icon Badges is turned on then make sure to tap on show with number.

In case the issue still persists then try restarting the phone as sometimes a restart will fix this issue.

One last option to consider is a factory reset. This reset will delete any old software data that may not have been removed during the software update process. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S8 Randomly Shuts Down Stuck On Samsung Logo

Problem: Hi, For the past 1 month my phone has randomly shut down, restart and being stuck at samsung boot logo. But 2 days ago, it went off. It started with my phone being in a shut down state & from that state I’m trying to boot the device up by pressing the power button. When I do, it turns on but stuck at the samsung boot logo, and then restarting it by itself repeatedly (around 6 times) until it went off to a black screen. When I plugged the device to a power source, nothing happened, not even the led light up, it was blank no response whatsoever. With the device behaving like that, I’m assuming it’s a firmware crash issue, and since it’s battery is insufficient, it’s stuck in that state for idk how long. So, pls help me as I think there’s still a workaround in order to solve this problem without going to the store, as I still have plenty of storage locked inside the device. Please help me

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once the port is free from dirt charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If the charging indicator is not present then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

Once the phone has sufficient charge try starting the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the issue persists then try starting the phone in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8 Does Not Boot Up

Problem: Hi There i was wondering if you can help with the issue i am having, I have a Samsung galaxy S8, the issue started when i put my phone on charge in the evening and when i woke up it was dead, i charged the phone again and tried a number of different things, eventually i managed to get it to turn on but it would show the Samsung logo then a bunch of lines would appear on the screen and it would just go black, I took the phone in for repair and the tech said that the LCD had gone so i ordered a new LCD and touch screen, this arrived yesterday and i installed it, at first the phone wouldn’t turn on so i plugged in the charger and it showed the battery charging logo, i then tried to turn it on again and the phone booted normally, however the screen seemed a little dull, i managed to get most of my data off the phone but after a couple of min the phone would shut down, then to boot it again it was very difficult, the phone would boot up and function normally for a few min at a time, After about an hour of this the screen started acting up again, were it seemed like the home screen was palatially off center almost like it partially swiped to the right, the situation just deteriorated over the next hour or so to a point where now it just wont turn on at all, a few min ago it turned on but just flashed black and white screen and made some strange noises from the speaker, then just stuck on white screen, and that’s as far as it goes now its dead. My thought was maybe the motherboard is gone and has take the LCD with it

Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by a faulty motherboard already. The best thing that you can do right now is to have the phone checked at a service center so that a proper diagnosis can be made.
