S7 Not Receiving Group Chats After Software Update

Problem: After the recent update, I am having issues with my messages. I can no longer do group chat. If someone sends a message to the group chat it shows the message as loading whether it is an image or text. If I start commenting in the group chat, and someone responds, it sends me their response individually and not in the group message. I enjoy some of the updates in the messages, but overall I am not a fan. I have also been having issues with my messages not showing up in chronological order. If I respond to a message, it will show my response for the message I am responding to.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is set to get the time and date from the network automatically. This will ensure that text messages arrive in chronological order.

  • From a Home screen tap Apps
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Date and time.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Automatic date and time switch making sure that it is enabled.

Next, for the problem of the phone not receiving group chats you will need to make sure that your phone has an active mobile data subscription since group chats are usually sent over mobile data. You should also check the APN settings of the phone making sure that it matches the settings of your network.

In case the settings are correct then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Check if the issue still occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Cannot Read Text Messages After Software Update

Problem: My Galaxy S7 just did an update and now I can send and receive texts but I cannot read the texts– If I push the button it will flash the text message but only for a couple of seconds.

Related Problem: My galaxy s7 active did a software update and now my text messages that I receive show up as a white box. I can see what I have sent out but not what I received.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app then check if the issue still occurs. This will usually fix the problem as it will remove any corrupt data in the app.

In case the issue persists then this could already be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update. The best thing to do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Not Sending Text Message

Problem: I have a galaxy S7, I can receive all text from others. But when I send text, it shows to be sent on my phone, but very seldom does anyone receive them. if I send multiple text to one person, they may receive 1 out of 3 or 4. I can text the same 3 people 4 days in a row, and each day it goes through to a different one of them?????????? Best buy, where I bought the phone, just sent me a new/refurbished phone, sprint activated it, and still have the same issue????

Related Problem: I have pretty crappy service in my office and my messages don’t always send. When I get back in service, they don’t send either. Usually people get them hours later or even the next day, even though I’ll had good services for hours by then. It just says “Sending” on my phone. I do not know the Android Version. I can’t (don’t know how/don’t believe I can) take my battery out so can’t soft reset it.

Solution: For this particular issue I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem could be caused by any of the following.

  • Account issue
  • Poor network signal

You will need to contact your carrier regarding this matter.
