S7 Edge Is Lagging

Problem: I have a 2 year old galaxy s7 edge and like all my previous android phones, as time goes on, it has more and more lag. Not all the time, though. Sometimes it lags so long it turns the screen off, and it takes a while to answer calls, etc. Never spontaneously reboots and rarely crashes. It’s just slow due to lag, especially with Google maps, and laggy typing is common. I have cleared the app cache with minimal effect, but just found out about the system cache. I will try that. Any help would be appreciated. Since this same thing gas plagued all my previous android phones, I’m guessing it’s a systemic problem? Thanks!

Solution: When you install more apps on your phone this will use up a considerable amount of storage space and usually use the phone RAM. If you have a lot of apps running in the background then the processor will be exerting more effort making sure that these apps run well which will usually result in the lag problem. There’s also the possibility that a faulty microSD card can cause this problem since it will be difficult for the phone to read the data stored in the card resulting in the lag issue. To fix this problem you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs and if it does then proceed to the next step.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
  • Check if an app is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the lag issue does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Edge Software Update Installation Failed

Problem: Hello. Today an update popped out on my screen so I clicked on it without a thought. I had around 80% battery but plugged it in when the update started downloading. After finishing downloading, phone restarted and began to install the update. But it keeps restarting after it reaches 29%. I took out MicroSD, nothing happened. I tried holding down Volume Down + Power button, then it keeps restarting on Samsung logo screen, after I release them the phone again tries to install the update. Tried also Volume Up + Power button + Home, no luck either. Only once a message appeared that said something like “installation failed, reboot 0” I think. Can’t do anything, the blue screen with installation appears over and over.

Solution: It’s possible that the update installation got interrupted. The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.

S7 Edge With Cracked Screen Not Working

Problem: Hi.. I dropped my S7 edge and has a cracks on the screen..the screen goes green and flickering..i tried putting it to safe mode then when it opened the screen shows the Time and and other notifications but I cant access the screen..the red led light is blinking..please help..

Solution: It looks like the display has already been damaged by the crack which means you will need to have this replaced at a service center. You can however try to check if this is caused by a software glitch by starting the phone in recovery mode then doing a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If this does not fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center.

S7 Edge Keeps On Rebooting After Software Update

Problem: Hi, i recently done a software update on my partners Samsung s7 Edge, which now keeps rebooting it won’t actually start up unless it is plugged into a charger im not sure how to fix this as my computer wont recognize the device. it keeps coming up as device malfunctioned, windows cannot recognize this device.. please help

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if a glitch in the update process is causing the problem. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the issue persists after the reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
