Galaxy J7 Screen Not Responding After Software Update

Problem: hi, I have a J7  that’s 5 months old and just had a software update today, Sept. 21, 2018. After the update, my phone rebooted but my screen no longer responds. The home button finger sensor works and so does the two function keys on its side. I took off the screen protector and did the soft reset a couple of times. I can’t access my phone.

Solution: The best thing to do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch that occurred after the software update. You will need to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the phone still remains unresponsive then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Galaxy J7 Screen Has Grey Lines

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 and yesterday I was in the parade for homecoming but I was on my phone in the car and it was fine (I cracked my screen in December 2017 but it is September 2018 now) but when I got on to the float I turned on my phone and these grey lines that seem to move have filled up my screen and sometimes my buttons don’t work but if I turn of my phone they work but is there a way I could fix it myself or do I need a professional?

Solution: It appears that this problem is already a hardware related issue caused by a cracked display. You can however try to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If the issue persists after the reset then it’s likely that you will need to have the display assembly of the phone replaced at a service center.
