J7 Connected Charger Is Incompatible Error

Problem: My phone all of the sudden keeps popping up a message that says the following: The connected charger is incompatible with this phone. To prevent damage to your phone charging has been stopped. To continue charging , use original charger and cable that was provided with this phone. This is happening while my phone is not charging, it is unplugged. There is also a lot of lag when typing.

Solution: This problem is usually caused by a faulty charging cord or wall charger which is why you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the following steps.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed. Try charging the phone.
  • Check if the phone can charger from a computer USB port. If it does then the problem is caused by a damaged pin in the charging port in which case you will need to have this checked at a service center.
  • Check if the issue is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Stuck In The Samsung Logo While Charging

Problem: I have a phone that was originally with Verizon but I successfully got it to run with my carrier. Have had no issues with that for about a year now. When I turn on the phone normally, a brief Samsung logo appears and after a few seconds, all is well. However, my phone was charging beside me (untouched and sleeping) when it must have restarted and got stuck on the Samsung logo. Stays there and doesn’t progress, though the little check mark still has its animation go repeatedly.I’ve done the volume down/power button to get to the “Maintenance Boot Mode”. Normal boot brings me back to the logo screen, I’m hesitant to do a factory reset, safe mode sends me to the logo screen, power down leaves a blue light at the top of my phone, oddly, and I doubt USB Debug Mode would be of any use. I’ve tried plugging it into my computer and going through the three options (restart, safe mode, power off) with no difference. My only other thought would be to let it completely die from the logo and see if that helps, but I thought I’d check here first. Any help would be appreciated!

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then remove it. Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

J7 Charges On And Off

Problem: My phone was at 41% and shut down. It wouldn’t restart for awhile but it eventually did. When I went to charge it, it won’t charge. After fiddling around with the lead/ cleaning out the charging connection point it may charge again for a second and then stop charging again. When I plug it in to charge when it’s off- it will connect but it doesn’t charge at all- the phone will vibrate every couple of seconds (as if it’s starting to charge) and then nothing happens. It’s a Samsung S5 so old enough model- just want to see if there is anything I can do.

Solution: It’s possible that the problem could be caused by a faulty charging cord and wall charger. To check if this is the case try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. In case the issue persists then the charging port could be faulty. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

J7 Randomly Turning Off

Problem: My Samsung J7 started randomly powering itself down, despite having battery left (50% yesterday when it happened).  I can turn the phone back on and it works normally, until today.  The phone has powered itself down sometime today and is flashing the battery icon with a black stripe near the bottom of the icon about 1/2 second before the icon disappears.  The phone does not appear to be charging.  I have tried switching out the battery over the last 2 days with no improvement.  Thank you for your suggestions!

Solution: Try inserting a battery that is charged to your phone then turn on the device in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the issue persists then you need to have this checked at a service center as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
