J5 Unresponsive After Getting Wet

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy J5. So I went to the beach yesterday and forgot to take my phone out of my pocket. I got splashed by waves a bunch and at times the phone was submerged. Once I noticed my phone I took it out of its case and set it on the case with my hat over it. There wasn’t any rice at the beachside restaurant, so I set it in the car on a charger in case it should come on. Later, we picked up some rice and set the phone in a bag of it overnight. This morning I tried turning it on, but still no response. I then put it on a charger and after some time a solid bright blue light came on. I left it like this for a while. Just now I tried turning it on while charging, no response. I tried pressing volume down and power, same result. I took it off the charger, at which point the led turned off, and repeated my previous steps. No luck. I put it back on the charger and am currently waiting for the led to come back on. Also, both cameras are fogged. Is there any hope or is this phone done for? Any reply would be much appreciated!

Solution: It’s very likely that water has entered the inside of the phone. The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the phone is dry. Wipe the exterior of the phone then place the device in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone.

After placing the phone in a bag of rice you should clean its charging port using a can of compressed air then charge the device for at least 20 minutes.

In case the issue still persists then the phone is most likely water damaged. You will need to have this checked at a service center to determine what component has been damaged and possibly have the phone repaired.

J5 Shuts Down When Using Snapchat

Problem: It all started with Snapchat. Everything I would go on Snapchat my phone would shut down. This was not happening as long as it was plugged in to the charger. After this things became worse, as the phone dies every time I remove it from the charger. I even did a factory reset while it was charging and the second I plugged it out it closed. After it closes I cannot open it unless I plus it in again.

Solution: If you have already done a factory reset and the issue still persists then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by a faulty battery. You should try to have the battery of your phone replaced at a service center.

J5 Not Turning Back On

Problem: My J5 randomly turned off and will not turn back on. It was at least 80 percent charged. The phone updated itself less than a week ago. I have only had this phone for 10 months. Nothing happens when I plug it it, try to turn it on or reset it.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using  wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Once the battery has sufficient charge turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the issue still persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J5 Moisture Detected In Charging Port

Problem: So I was on my phone today just playing a game like normal, and when i finished i had the moisture detected in charging port. I was laying in bed around no moisture, and it just popped up. I tried everything in your article about it including a full reset of the phone and it’s still there. I just wanna be able to use my phone.

Solution: Try using a hair dryer or mini vacuum to remove any presence of moisture in the charging port. If the issue still persists and since you have already performed a factory reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
