J3 Not Automatically Connecting To Wi-Fi Network
Problem: Have a Samsung Galaxy J3. It automatically connects to home wi-fi every morning just fine when I turn it on and stays connected as long as I’m at home. However, if I leave the house and go shopping and return later, it won’t detect and automatically connect to my home wi-fi when I return. When I check the wi-fi setting when that happens, for some reason it automatically turned itself off. Not sure what to do to fix this to keep it on. Thanks.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to delete the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then connect to it again.
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi switch to ON. The Wi-Fi Switch moves right and turns green.
- Touch and hold on the Wi-Fi network you wish to delete.
- Tap Forget network.
Once the network has been removed scan and connect to it again.
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi switch to ON. The Wi-Fi Switch moves right and turns green.
- A list of networks populates.
- Tap the MORE to add a Wi-Fi network that does not display.
- Tap the desired Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
- If necessary, enter the password.
- Tap Connect.
In case the problem still persists then the proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
J3 Intermittently Losing Internet Connection After Software Update
Problem: This issue started with the software update in April to my device J3. I started losing Internet connection both connected to wifi and through the service provider. I could be connected to wifi and be browsing on other devices but not have the ability to use Internet on my phone. This happens intermittently. The connection goes in and out. This also happens just using my service provider’s (verizon) 4g lte. I told Verizon that this was happening we conducted several troubleshooting tests, it did not fix the issue. they sent me a new phone and SIM card. They told me to call back if I was having the issue again. I went through 5 more phones and I experienced the same connectivity issues with every phone. In September I switched to AT&T.. I noticed I was having the same exact problem immediately. I could have Facebook messenger open and have full bars for 4g LTE and not be able to connect to the internet. The messenger will show a red bar stating I have no Internet connection. This exact symptom happens when the phone is connected to wifi (that I know works on other devices). I have to force close the apps and re-open it for it to reconnect to the Internet. Randomly I will have an error that shows up at the bottom of the screen even when I am not doing anything with the phone (no Internet connection)
Solution: Since you have already tried replacing the phone and even switch service providers then the most likely reason why this problem is still happening is because of an app you downloaded to the phone. Try checking if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then you should find out what app this is and uninstall it.
J3 Mobile Data Not Working After Software Update
Problem: hello. I have recently updated my android operating system to Android 7 now my mobile data doesn’t work. when I go to check my APN settings that there is not an APN setting option even listed anymore. any help would be great. Thanks
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete proceed with checking the phone APN settings and make sure that it matches the one your carrier is using.
