J3 Keyboard Does Not Appear When Trying To Text

Problem: The keyboard keys does not appear when i press enter message to type my message,..also when i need to type in website address in internet the keys does not appear. Used to do internet banking from my phone when i am out of the office or reply to text messages, now i cannot reply to text messages. Can you guys help me out please.

Solution: Try to check first if the problem is caused by a glitch in the keyboard app of the phone by clearing the  cache and data of this app from the application manager. Once this is done and the issue still persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J3 Text Message Notification Show Only Partial View Of Text

Problem: I just installed the latest update (Android 8.1.0/Samsung Experience Version 9.5) on my Samsung J3. In the previous software version, I was able to set my Messenger (default app) preview to show only a partial view of the text content (approx the first 3-4 words).  Now, this updated version shows the entire message in the Preview. How do I set Messenger to only show the first couple words of the text, and not the entire message? THANK YOU!

Solution: To fix this issue try setting the pop-up message notification of the phone again. This can be done by following the steps listed below.

  • From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  • Tap Messages
  • Tap the Menu icon
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Notifications.
  • Toggle the Notification switch from the on state to the off state then back to on.
  • Toggle the pop-up display switch switch from the on state to the off state then back to on.

In case the issue still persists then this could be caused by a software glitch in which case you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J3 Keypad Works On Its Own

Problem: To whom it may concern I am having problems with my J3. My key pad seems to have a mind of its own. As I am texting the cursor goes all over the page and sometimes I am not able to move it from one point to another. It took me an about 5 tries to write this message without having spelling problems or deleted texts,. I have to power the phone or exit the app and start all over again in order to be able to access the keypad before it goes haywire again. Even as I use my facebook or instagram it will like pictures or start copying text or take me to different pages. On all this I haven’t even touched the key pad and removed the phone cover. I have even tried recalibrating the device but this does nothing. Please may you advice on what I can do to rectify this problem? Kind regards

Solution:  The first thing that you need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the keyboard app from the application manager as the problem could be caused by a glitch in the app. If this does not fix the problem then try to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In cas the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty hardware component.

J3 Text Notification Bubble Shows Incorrect Number

Problem: Since the last update my text message notification (orange bubble) number is incorrect. Even though I may have only one unread message, the little orange notification bubble says 3, and if I have more than one it doubles or quadruple the number I really have. Never had this issue before with this phone as it has worked flawlessly. I also lost my microphone icon on the keyboard so I can’t perform any voice-to-text anymore either. Please help

Solution:  Sometimes a soft reset will fix this problem. To do this just press and hold both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the problem still persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
