J3 Does Not Recognize microSD Card

Problem: Hi, J3 with Sandisk Micro SD card. Card has been working fine for months. Just stopped working all of a sudden. Phone now says to re-insert the card (even though it’s in the slot). I’ve turned phone on/off, taken card out/in. Tried reading MicroSD in computer using adapter, computer responds that I need to insert a disk. This is not the first time that this has happened with a MicroSD card and this phone. Are MicroSD cards just built poorly and die for no reason, or is phone the source of the problem? Thanks for your help!

Related Problem: Hello! I have a J3 and suddenly my microSD doesn’t work anymore. Even the phone doesn’t recognize it as inside. I have all my holidays photos on the microSD and I still on vacation so is difficult to find assistance. Thanks so much!!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to remove the microSD card from the phone then let your computer read it. If the computer can’t read the card then it is most likely corrupted already and needs to be replaced with a new one.

In case your computer can read the card then I suggest that you copy the contents of the card to a folder in your computer. Once this is done format the card using the FAT32 partition then insert it back to your phone. The card should be recognized by the phone.

J3 Not Reading microSD Card

Problem: Hello. For the past few weeks my phone has been lagging and I ended up messing up the battery I believe. It charges fine but sometimes I can restart it and it jump from 45 to 15 % and I restart it again to go back to 15%. About 4 days ago I took the sd card out when the phone was off and put it back in. When I turned it on the sd card didn’t read and still hasn’t to this day. I haven’t tried it in a pc but this was the first time I have taken it out since I purchased the phone is January. I have many apps and pictures / vids and nothing seems to work. It is not scratched and I have cleaned it softly with an eraser. My software update finally showed up yesterday (which I figured was the cause of the lag along with the battery) and it hasn’t lagged since then but my sd card is still not reading (which I read an update can fix)

Solution: The beat thing that you can do right now is to remove the sd card from your phone then connect it to your computer using a card reader. If the computer can’t read the card then it is most likely corrupted already which means you will need to get a new card. If the computer can read the card then you should backup its contents. While I suggest that you already get a new card to use on your phone you can still use this card if you format it first.

J3 Photos In microSD Card Are Missing

Problem: I’ve been reading all the problems with the Samsungs after the most recent software update and I can attest!  I have a one year old J3. All other stuff aside, I need help finding the pics I have loaded on my SD card. This “album” was always listed with the others in my Gallery ie screenshots, downloads, etc.  I put pics on the card to ensure safekeeping, now I can’t find them. Any ideas PLEASE???

Solution: If you are unable to view the photos using the Gallery app then try restarting the phone first then check if you can now view the photos If the issue persists then you should remove the card form your phone then let your computer read the card. Use your computer file manager program to search for the photos.

J3 Low Internal Storage Space

Problem: Hi, I just got a samsung J3 thru total wireless. When I check internal memory it says I have 2gb available out of 16b. I know I haven’t loaded that much on it so I need help figuring out what is safe to delete. There is a folder called ResponderMTP with about 80mb. Plus when I moved folders to the sd card it didn’t delete from the internal memory. Please help thanks!

Solution: It’s generally not safe to manually delete folders from your phone as these might be important and needed by the device. The best way to regain more space on your phone is to uninstall apps that you don’t generally use. You should also move your personal files such as music, videos, and photos to the microSD card of your phone.
