Galaxy A5 Camera Failed Error

Problem: Camera fails intermittently but very often all apps have the camera permission removed Samsung guy at Best Buy cleared hard drive cache x 2 camera work for short period Then camera failed error message reads can’t use 2 camera apps at the same time or just camera failed. No battery to remove to do soft reset

Related Problem: When I try and take a picture the phone freezes briefly and then gives a Camera failed message. This is quickly followed by the phone automatically restarting itself with no way to stop it or fix problem. I have tried clearing the cache, force stopping I am trying to avoid a complete reset of data at this point.

Solution: The best thing to do in this particular issue is to clear the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then your last option should be a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Galaxy A5 Camera Photos Are Missing

Problem: Hi Droid Guy,  I have a Samsung Galaxy A5, purchased at Costco (in the USA) .  I have never had issues or problems with my phone until now. I used my A5 to take lots of photos on Sept 14, 2018 while hiking, and I can not find any of those photos on my phone.  The photos I took before that day and after that day are all visible on the phone. I did a soft reset as described above, and I cleared the cache (all just now) and I still can not find the photos from Sept 14th.  I connected my phone to my pc, and have tried looking for the photos searching for 20180914, and nothing is found. I tried searching for 20180915, and all my photos from that day are found. I have looked everywhere.  Please help! I hiked up Scafell Pike on that day, and would love to have those photos. I am pretty sure most of those photos (if not all) were taken by swiping the camera icon so that I could simply take photos (ie not putting the code to unlock the phone), and I do this all that time, even after the 14th, and again, all those photos are there.  I am American, living here in the UK for a while. I am devastated that I can not find those photos. And I did not delete anything on my phone that day, or even after that day. So I could not have accidentally deleted them. Please help! Thank you so much!!

Solution: If it is only this particular date that has no photos stored in the phone then there’s a chance that these photos have been deleted from the phone since it is not even available when you try viewing the files from your computer.

It’s also possible that you might not have taken the photos properly which results in the shots not being saved to the phone.

Galaxy A5 Will Not Focus Properly

Problem: In the last year or so my camera doesn’t properly focus.  It will grab on object to focus on and the rest of the picture is blurry.  This is without me even touching the screen. Was that an update that caused it?  When I first purchased the phone the pictures were fabulous, now not so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: To fix this issue try clearing the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager. Before checking the camera make sure to wipe the camera lens with a microfiber cloth. In case the camera till does not focus properly then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the camera can focus.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue in which case you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
