LG G6 Randomly Freezes

Problem: Hi. Today I was on the bus and I was listening to music and typing things on my phone. The phone randomly froze and the music feed died. I thought it would pass but the phone stayed on that one screen for 3 hours until it died. I am now trying to charge the phone but it won’t turn on no matter what I do. I long pressed the power button, I pressed the power button and Volume Down, I pressed the power button and Volume Up, and I tried all of these for at least 30 seconds. I followed the LG G6 specific guide and tried everything. It won’t even boot up in recovery mode! Nothing. The phone won’t even show a logo, not even a single light, let alone boot back to normal. Is this because the battery is DEAD? Or something else? You can’t technically open the LG G6 so it’s hard to tell what the problem is. Would you happen to have any idea, and how I could fix it? Please respond as soon as possible. Thank you.

Solution: Right now I would suggest that you charge the phone battery first as it might be low on charge. To charge the phone first clean the charging port using a can of compressed air then connect the phone to its wall charger for at least 20 minutes. In case you don’t see any charging indicator on the device then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Once the battery has sufficient charge press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 12 seconds. The phone should boot up.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G6 Shuts Down Not Turning Back On

Problem: My LG G6 shut down by itself and won’t turn on. I wasn’t actively using my phone when this happened although Whatsapp was running on the background since I was on Whatsapp web on. When Whatsapp notified me about my phone not being connected I thought it would come back in few seconds since it does that time to time. Few minutes after that I checked my phone an it didn’t respond I had 30% battery few minutes ago so it wasn’t that. I tried to turn it on with power holding the power button but nothing happened. Then I plugged the charger and LED notification lighted orange. I decided to leave it for few minutes. After that I unplugged it but LED stayed orange so I plugged it again. After that I tried to turn it on via power button again but nothing happened. Then I pressed down both power button and volume down button and hold it for few seconds but nothing else happened I tried few more times after few tries it stopped lighting up and the LED notification stopped lighting orange. Lastly I looked up and found your website and tried everything you said but my phone is not responding. Even the LED notification doesn’t light up anymore when I plug the phone. Is there anything else I can try to start my phone.

Solution: The troubleshooting steps that you need to do in this particular case is the same as the issue which we have addressed above. The first thing you need to do is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. Once the battery has sufficient charge do a soft reset. In case the phone does not respond then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

LG G6 Shuts Down Randomly

Problem: The phone is shutting down at random battery levels from 50% to 80%.  The phone is only usable for less than an hour on the battery. We are thinking it needs a new battery, but don’t want to spend cash on a battery if there is something else we can do. The phone is about 9 months old.  With my Sam S5 I just buy a new battery and I’m good. Not so with the G6.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. Remove the micro SD card of the phone if you have one installed then start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode you will then need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component which could be the battery or the power IC. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
