LG G6 Cannot Attach Picture To Text Message

Problem: My LG G3 died and I got an LG G6 two months ago. Could not save many things from the G3, but did get contacts and 10 years worth of pictures to the new phone via Google and Verizon clouds. I used Messaging for texting on both old and new phone.  Problem…when I want to attach a pic to a text, the Photo app (where all the pics are) does not appear in the choices box. Somehow the only choices are: Image, Take photo, Video, Record Video, Audio, Record Voice, location, contact, Event, Memo, Draw, and Slide.  I never use most of those–don’t know how they got in the “choice” box. The only pictures in Image are the few I’ve taken on THE NEW PHONE only….the 10 years’ worth are not in Image, only in the Photo icon. Why won’t the Photo icon appear in the choice box (like it did on the G3) …  and how can I put it in the choice box and remove most of the icons in “choice” since I never use them. Has Google taken over my phone? Help!

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the photos are indeed stored in the phone and not in the cloud. You can check the phone gallery app for photos that are stored in the phone.

If the photos are indeed stored in the phone but you are not able to attach them to the messaging app then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Try sending the picture message using the steps listed below.

  • Press the message icon.
  • Press the new message icon.
  • Select recipient
  • Press the search field and key in the first letters of the recipient’s name.
  • Press the required contact.
  • Write text
  • Press the text input field and write the text for your picture message.
  • Insert a picture
  • Press the attachment icon.
  • Press Image and go to the required folder.
  • Press the required picture.
  • Send picture message

If the issue remains then try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app and the gallery app from the application manager.

You should also check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it isn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

LG G6 Freezes When Typing Text Message

Problem: LG G6 started hanging up (Lagging) on texting, and surfing the web. What I mean that while texting the keyboard will stop functioning. I keep typing and it will duplicate the last word before the freeze up. Then all the rest of the words I typed will be put into the text. While surfing the scrolling will stop working, then start again a few seconds later. Can you help me troubleshoot this issue?

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by a software glitch. The first thing you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app and the keyboard app from the application manager. Once this is done try to check if the problem still occurs. In case it does then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG G6 Fails To Send Text Message Using OK Google

Problem: When saying OK Google, Send a text, I get the proper response for the contact name, then the request for message content. After acknowledging the message, OK Google asks what to do, I tell it to “send” and OK Google responds with “Huh, looks like there’s a problem” and fails to send the message. This is a very recent occurrence, as I use this feature constantly. And quite literally started one morning out of the blue with no obvious reason why. How can I resolve this issue?

Solution: First, try checking if the phone can indeed send out a text message without any issues by composing a text and sending it out manually. If the text message cannot be sent out then this might be the reason why you are not able to use the OK Google command. If however you can send out a text message then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the Google app from the application manager.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Check if the issue still occurs.
