S7 Stuck In Flashing Samsung Logo After Software Update

Problem: Hello, I have a samsung s7 that worked fine until I did a system update 2 nights ago. As soon as I pressed update the samsung logo began flashing on my phone. I left it on charge for the night and when I woke up it was still flashing. It wouldn’t turn off. I held the down button and home to reset but it just did the same thing when powered up. I then held the home button, power and up button to perform a reinstall but it then just froze on that screen. I rang samsung who told me to carry out the reset and reinstall again before being advised to take it into their store. I took it in but was told that because there was a crack in the front and back it was not covered under their 24 month warranty. They charged me £25 to plug it in and told me it wasn’t a software issue and would likely mean it needs a new motherboard but they wouldn’t fix it unless I paid £250 for a new front screen and back first. Can you please advise? Also…… I am now trying to use my work phone as a replacement. It’s a samsung J5 but only has 8gb of memory with work features taking up 3gb so there is no room for any apps. I have inserted a standard 4gb micro sd from my camera but no apps or hardly any data can be transferred to it. Does the type of Sd card matter? There is no option to transfer to Sd card on the file manager? Thanking you in advance for your advice

Solution: Regarding the issue with your J5 you won’t be able to install apps on the microSD card. You can only transfer data to this card such as the pictures taken by your camera or your music and video files.

Moving forward to the S7 what you will want to do first in this case is to remove the microSD card if you have one installed. Once this is done restart the phone by pressing and holding both the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds, Your phone should restart after this. In case the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. Make sure that the charging symbol appears.
  • With the phone still connected to the charger start the device in recovery mode. Then wipe the cache partition of the phone. Follow this up with a factory reset. Take note that you will lose any data stored in your phone if you perform this procedure.
  • Restart the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue already in which case you should have it fixed at a service center.

S7 Black Screen With Blue LED Light

Problem: My phone went to a black screen and turned off by itself. I tried charging it then turning it on an sometimes just the Samsung logo comes on and that’s it ,it goes right back off it will not turn on an there’s a blue light on that just stays lit. My phone has not worked In over 2 months an i really miss my phone.I tried all the trouble shooting options but nothing works. Can u please help me.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then I recommend that you remove this from your phone first then perform a simulated battery pull.his is done by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone then let it charge using a wall charger for 20 minutes.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for 10 seconds.
  • If the phone does not turn on then try starting it in recovery mode. From here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Responding

Problem: i have a galaxy s7 that won’t respond to anything . even when i charge it , it doesn’t charge or respond at all . i tried holding down all the troubleshoot button and almost every different way i’ve seen online about how to fix the problem but none of that works . what do i do

Solution: If your phone is not responding then the first thing you will need to do is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to charge the phone.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it gets removed.
  • Charge the phone using a wall charger for 20 minutes.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Remove the microSD card of the phone is one is installed.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should try starting the phone in recovery mode and from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Deletes Area Code From Text Messages

Problem: Galaxy S7. When receiving texts from certain contacts, it removes the area code. So only a 7 digit number appears. I receive the text fine, but when I go to respond it won’t go through. I have to then forward my response to the contact that is saved in my phone. The contact saved in my phone has the phone number and area code, and then the message goes through. I have already tried resetting the phone and re-entering effected contacts. It’s been doing this with a handful of my contacts and I can’t figure out a common link between them. There is a variety of area codes among the contacts it’s not working for and they’ve all be contacts in my phone for a long time. My provider is Bell.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the numbers in your contact list also include the area code. If it already is then delete the contact and re-enter it with the correct area code. Once this is done clear the cache and data of the dialer and dialer storage app from the application manager. Do the same for the messaging app. You should also delete the text message affected then start a new message thread.

If the issue still persists then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Only Installs System Update Up To 31%

Problem: my cell phone wanted to update, but when it started the update it is only installing system update to 31% then it shuts down and the galaxy S7 powered by android screen comes up. then it goes back to the blue installing system update to 31% . it just keeps cycling like that round and round. what do i do?

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here wipe the cache partition and do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S7 Verizon Unlocked MMS Not Working On Rogers

Problem: Hi. we have bought a Verizon unlocked (originally) S7 and use it on Canada Rogers network. Once we entered it the APN configuration given by Rogers tech support, 4g and SMS works. MMS would not, meaning that all pics are blocked no matter the size (we tried an MMS app that offers the downsizing of pics). we tried an alternative APN config for MMS but no joy. The problem, now, I think that is the main APN that is “default” type. This nougat  do not offer anymore to choose between “internet+MMS etc.short story, we cannot use multimedia attachments in SMS (MMS). Do you have any suggestion, cause at this point we suspect some Verizon apn that don’t go away even as we réinitialise (delete) all APNs.The Rogers support gave up on us, saying that these phones are like “made to order” and the type says that it was made for Verizon and that a certain incompatibilité should be expected.we cannot resign ourselves to not using MMS and we would not want to go to complex rooting and the unexpected consequences.

Solution: Because Verizon uses a CDMA network and Rogers uses a GSM network the S7 that you have will have issues running on Rogers even if it is unlocked. The common problem is the inability of the device to send or receive MMS. If you are unable to change or use the correct APN setting then flashing the phone with another firmware version is highly recommended. You should consider visiting the XDA Developers Forum website to get an idea on how this is done.
