Galaxy S2 Won’t Turn On After Overnight Charging

Problem: Hi, I hope you can help me! My S2 was left on charge overnight as usual; in the morning it showed initially that it wasn’t charged, then that it was at 59%, then screen went black and phone wouldn’t charge or turn on, but got hot. The charging icon didn’t show on the screen when plugged in via the charger. Have checked that the charger works by testing with another phone. Assumed it was the battery and bought a new one. With the new battery inserted the phone gets hot, has a black screen but the charging icon doesn’t show. Running out of ideas now! Assume that I really am going to have to replace it but I just want to retrieve everything from my phone before it goes to mobile heaven. — Carol

Suggestion: Hi Carol. Based on your description of the problem, it sounds like the problem is with the USB charging port. This is a common issue with the Galaxy S2 but it seldom happens to later flagships. There is a possibility that one of the electronic components was fried. Or, if could also be just a minor hardware glitch. So, before anything else, try these steps:

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Press and hold the Power key for a minute to drain stored electricity off of capacitors.
  3. Replace the battery and the back cover.
  4. Attempt to turn the phone on.
  5. If it refused to turn on normally, press and hold the Menu key and switch on the phone to attempt to boot in Safe Mode.
  6. If Safe Mode failed, then press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys then switch the phone on to try to boot in recovery mode.
  7. If both Safe Mode and Recovery Mode failed, then at this point it is logical to think that it’s really a hardware issue.

Replacing the USB charging port will fix the issue, however, you need to employ the service of a technician. If your data are worth the expenses of having it fixed, then go ahead. Otherwise, it’s time you bought a new one or upgrade to later Galaxy models.

Galaxy S2 Bluetooth Won’t Turn On

Problem: My Galaxy S2 Bluetooth won’t turn on. This started about a week ago and it would turn on after several attempts but now won’t turn on at all. Sliding the on/off bar in the settings or selecting the Bluetooth icon in the drag down bar makes no difference.

Solution: It’s just a minor glitch and it happens all the time not just to Galaxy S2s but to other devices as well. There are two ways to fix this problem, the first one is by booting in safe mode and second is by booting in recovery mode.

Safe Mode

  1. Remove the battery from the phone.
  2. Re-insert the battery.
  3. Press and hold the Menu key.
  4. While holding the Menu key, turn on the device.
  5. When you see the lock screen, you can release the Menu key.
  6. ‘Safe mode’ displays in the lower-left corner.
  7. Now try to turn the Bluetooth on.

If this procedure failed, then the problem is more than just a minor glitch. But don’t worry, the next procedure will take care of it.

Recovery Mode

  1. Turn your phone off.
  2. With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. You’ll see the Android recovery screen.
  3. Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.
  4. Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.
  5. Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.
  6. Your factory reset is now complete.
  7. Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.

Galaxy S2 Stuck On Charging Mode

Problem: Hello Harold, having an issue with my S2. It show’s the phone in charge mode when it’s plugged in but as soon as I turn it on it’ll go through the initial ON phase, yet as soon as it gets to the HOME SCREEN it completely shuts off and goes back to charge mode on it’s own. It does this every single time I try to turn it on. Any suggestions.

Solution: It’s not a common issue but I know a few S2 owners who also experienced this problem. The thing is that it can be caused by a firmware glitch or a minor hardware issue. All you need to do is remember when it first happened and how.

If it happened after you charged your phone, try to check if there’s dirt in the charging port or if there is a bent pin. If not, then it’s probably a firmware issue.

Try doing soft reset first before attempting other troubleshooting procedures:

  1. While the phone is on, remove the back cover and pull the battery out.
  2. Press and power button for a minute.
  3. Place the battery back in and then the back cover.
  4. Now turn the phone on and observe if it still goes back to the charging mode once it reaches the Home screen.

If the problem remained, it’s time you cleared all caches because we don’t know which one causes the issue.

Galaxy S2 WiFi Won’t Turn On

Problem: Hi, my name is Luciana. It has come to my attention that my Samsung Galaxy S2 is experiencing some technical difficulties. More specifically, the wi-fi refuses to turn on, displaying an error message when this is attempted. I would like to know the procedure for fixing such problem, or who to contact so as to get it fixed. Thanks, Luciana.

Related Problem: Dear sir, I wish to inform u this evening about the problem am having with my galaxy s2. As I started using my cell phone, I realize that my wi-fi and Bluetooth networks are not working and due to that I manage to download wifi and Bluetooth repair software if it could solve the problem .

But apart form all these software am not able to connect them. Whenever I try to connecting the wifi , what appear is wifi error but for the Bluetooth, when I try fiction it , I don’t see anything at all so I wish to inform u to do something about. Hoping to hear form u very soon.

Solution:It’s just a minor glitch and most of the time rebooting the phone could fix it. So, if you haven’t tried that yet, please do. But you know what, it could have been better if you included the actual error message you were getting. Buy anyway, if reboot failed to rectify the issue, try booting the phone in safe mode and attempt to turn WiFi from there.

  7. Now try to turn the WiFi on.

If you have successfully turned on WiFi in Safe Mode, leave the switch to on and boot to normal mode. You will now be able to turn it on or off. However, if it failed, you need to perform factory reset but don’t forget to backup all your data first.

  1. While the phone is on, remove the back cover and then the battery.
  2. Press and hold the power key for about 30 seconds.
  3. Place the battery back and turn the phone on.

If the phone still refuses to boot up after this, then follow the next procedure.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold both Volume Up and Volume Down keys at the same time.
  3. Press the Power key only until the phone vibrates once, then release only the Power key.
  4. Continue to hold the Volume up and Volume Down keys until the Android System Recovery screen appears.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe data / factory reset.
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes – Delete all user data.
  8. Press the Power key to select.
  9. Press the Power key to reboot.

Galaxy S2 Quick Battery Drain Network Issue

Problems:

  1. Battery goes to 0 within 3 hours even after full recharge.
  2. Phone is not able to catch mobile network and I get the message put the SIM card though SIM card is already put in.

Please help. Thanks, Ashok.

Solution: If you can solve the SIM card problem, then the quick battery drain issue would just go away. So, remove your SIM card first and using a clean, dry cloth, wipe its connectors. Now insert it back to the slot and make sure it’s positioned correctly. If the phone can’t still detect the SIM card after that, then call your provider and ask for a new SIM as the one you currently have is already damaged.

Again, if you can solve the SIM card issue, the other problem will also be fixed. If, however, the battery still drains faster than before even if the phone could now detect the SIM card, then try closing all apps running in the background. Turn off mobile data, Bluetooth and WiFi if not used. If the problem persists, then it’s time you performed factory reset to bring the phone back to its original settings.

Galaxy S2 Won’t Turn On

Problem: My daughters Samsung Galaxy S2 won’t start. She turned on the music player, pressed play for a song and about 5 seconds later it made a weird noise and shut off. Now we can’t get it to start. We tried taking out the battery and reinserting it, tried pressing the start and volume buttons to get it to the home screen but nothing is working, except that when the battery is in it vibrates once every second. Is there anything we can do at home to fix the problem? Thank you, Trish.

Solution: Trish, since we really don’t know what caused this problem, let’s try to exhaust all possible troubleshooting procedures starting with soft reset:

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Press and hold the power button for a minute.
  3. Place the battery back in.
  4. Attempt to turn the phone on.

For minor glitches, this procedure is very effective. However, if the problem persists after this, try booting the phone in safe mode.

If the phone boots up in safe mode, then the problem is caused by either a third-party app or a firmware glitch. Try booting normally and if the phone still refused to do so, there’s no other way to fix this but factory reset.

If the device couldn’t boot in safe mode or if the problem returned after the reset, it’s time you had the phone checked by a technician.

Galaxy S2 Turns Off, Can’t Be Recognized By Computer

Problem: Hello there I found your page online, my girlfriend is having problems with her phone. Since we have been using utorrent to download films her phone has been acting strangely. Like today it says its 100% charged so we turn it on, then after about 20-30 seconds it turns it’s self back off and says there is no battery power….. Also as this problem has arrived my computer will no longer pick it up to remove films. Is there any advice or help for this problem. Thanks for any help Karl.

Solution: Karl, one way to confirm if it was really uTorrent that caused this problem is to boot the phone in Safe Mode. But first charge the phone and don’t turn it on until it shows 100%.

If the problem was fixed in safe mode, then there’s nothing we can do about the app but uninstall it. However, if the battery still drains quicker even in safe mode, there’s a chance that the battery needs replacement or there’s an issue with the USB charging port. In order to probe further, perform factory reset to see if the problem still occurs after that. If not, then it was all because of apps, data, caches and firmware. Otherwise, you need to have the phone checked by a technician.

Galaxy S2 Messaging App Has Stopped

Problem: My phone (Samsung S2) has stopped texting and the call logs are not available. The storage was full which I have sorted out but I still can’t text. Message comes up saying messaging has stopped. And sometimes the message android.com.phone has stopped ? Help please. Thank you, Lucy.

Solution: Hi Lucy, thanks for providing necessary details. You see, it’s more than just the messaging app crashing. There could be a little issue with the firmware that needs to be sorted out and you can do that only with Factory Reset. I know it’s a general troubleshooting procedure but there’s nothing we can do and that we really don’t know which pre-installed app causes the problem. Of course, you need to backup your data first.

Galaxy S2 Won’t Charge Or Turn On

Problem: Hi, I was searching up why my Samsung S2 wouldn’t turn on and I saw your site. I was wondering if it would be the same problem as number one. I plug my charger in and it shows the battery icon for only 2 seconds and it shuts off. I plugged it into my computer and it done the same thing. So I was wondering if it is my battery is damage and I should get a new battery. Please message me back asap! Thank you!

Solution: I know it does sound unbelievable sometimes but for this problem, try doing the soft reset first. Remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for a minute to drain off stored electricity. Place the battery back in and attempt to turn the phone on. If the phone turns on, there’s a big chance it would charge. However, if it didn’t due to lack of power, then leave the phone off and attempt to charge it.

There’s no guarantee that a new battery is the solution to this problem. But if you could borrow from someone, that would be helpful to rule out that possibility. The other suspect is the USB charging port, which receives current from the power adapter and passes it to the battery. If that’s the problematic component, then you really need to have the phone checked by a tech.

Emails Stopped Updating On Galaxy S2

Problem: Hi, my email on S2 was working fine, but lately it stopped updating mails. It kept giving the message user name/password incorrect. Then I deleted the account and tried setting account again. Now it gives a message there are no provider, connector available, please contact your carrier. Thanks, Amit.

Solution: Amit, it could have been helpful if you included what email service you’re using. If you use one provide by your phone internet service provider, then contact them as it is obvious the problem is with the settings. If you’re using an email associated with your domain name, then you can find more information via cPanel or you can also contact your webhost provider.

Play Store Error on Galaxy S2

Error: I am having problems with my phone. It got stolen then a couple of months later returned, since then i have not been able to download any apps on play store they come up error code RPC:S-7&AEC:7 I have tried everything i know to correct this but cant. I do however get the web. It is a t- mobile phone but my service is through walmart family plan t mobile. Can you please help me? Thank you so much.

Solution: I personally encountered this error message before and there are two ways you can address it. First, remove the Google account that you used in the Play Store and just add it back. That usually takes care of this problem. However, if it persists then you need to clear the cache and data of the Play Store and uninstall its updates.

  1. From the Setting menu, touch Apps or Application Manager.
  2. Verify the All tab is selected.
  3. Find and touch Play Store.
  4. Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.
  5. Now touch Uninstall Updates.
  6. Reboot the phone.
  7. Add your account again.
