Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus touchscreen is not working

When your Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus touchscreen is not working anymore, it could be a sign of a firmware problem or it points to a hardware issue being the cause. But the thing is, when itā€™s a hardware problem, more often, you can see some signs of traces of physical damage and since weā€™re talking about the display, the damage could be in a form of cracks. If you can see some hair-like cracks and this problem started, then thereā€™s no point in troubleshooting your phone. You must bring it immediately to the shop if you still want to get it fixed. But most likely, what the technician will do is replace the display panel.

On the other hand, if this problem started without apparent reason or cause, then it could be due to a firmware-related issue. Fix Galaxy S10 Plus when its touchscreen is not working

Hereā€™s the thing, if the problem is with the hardware, you need a technician to fix it for you but if itā€™s with the firmware, then you can probably fix it on your own without any help from a technician. With that said, here are the things you can do to fix your Galaxy S10 with its touchscreen thatā€™s not workingā€¦

First solution: Force restart your S10 Plus

It is very much possible that the cause of the problem is a minor firmware issue or a glitch. These things happen all the time and while they may seem like some serious hardware problems, theyā€™re actually pretty minor and you can surely fix them on your own even with this procedureā€¦

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and donā€™t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10 Plus logo shows on the screen.

The moment the phone has successfully rebooted, try to see if you can swipe up on the screen because if the touchscreen is not working still, then you must do the next procedure.

Second solution: Restart your phone in Safe mode

There are times when third-party apps cause some issues or inconsistencies with the firmware which may result to various problems including this one. We need to isolate the problem and see if we can make the touchscreen respond in this environment. Restarting in safe mode should be easy when the touchscreen is working but since itā€™s not, hereā€™s what you should do:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and donā€™t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the power key but continue holding the volume down button until the phone boots up.
  4. The device will continue the boot process and enters safe mode.

While in this mode, try to see if the problem is fixed because if the touchscreen is not working still, then move on to the next method.

Third solution: Bring phone to the store or shop

At this point, thereā€™s no other way you can continue troubleshooting your phone because the touchscreen is not working. You canā€™t even power it off and start it up in recovery mode. Therefore, the only thing left for you to do is bring the phone back to the store or shop so that a technician can check it up for you as it could be a hardware problem.

However, if your phone already has low battery, wait for it to shut down by itself and then try doing the master reset to see if the touchscreen works after that. Hereā€™s how itā€™s done on a phone with a touchscreen thatā€™s not working:

  1. Allow the phone to run out of battery.
  2. Once it turns off, connect it to the charger for 5 minutes but do not turn in back on yet.
  3. When thereā€™s sufficient battery, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the Galaxy S10+ logo shows, release all three keys.
  5. Your Galaxy S10 Plus will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  6. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  7. Press Power button to select.
  8. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  9. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  10. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  11. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Please note that this procedure will delete all your personal files and data and while we donā€™t want you to lose them, thereā€™s no other choice but to do this. If the phoneā€™s touchscreen is not working even after this, then itā€™s really time to bring it to the shop.
