Note 5 The SIM Has Locked Power Cycle The Device

Problem: I keep getting a message popping up saying “The sim has locked. Power cycle the device and if the problem persists contact customer service.” I have done both and customer service doesn’t really know what’s going on with it either. All they could tell me was that I may need a new sim card. The phone is only like a month and a half to two months old.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this issue is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If your phone is already running on the latest software version and the issue still occurs then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Toggle airplane mode of the phone.
  • Restart the phone.
  • Turn off the phone then remove the SIM card from your phone. Inspect the SIM for any visible damages. Reinsert the SIM then turn on the phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Try using another SIM card in your phone.

In case the above steps fails to work then you will need to contact your carrier regarding this problem.

Note 5 Has slowed Down Since Latest Update

Problem: Having a smartphone, specifically a note 5, I know you must restart your phone once a week at least to clear some cache and such, well every time I turn my phone on I get a notification towards the bottom of my screen saying “we can’t complete the request right now, try again when you’re connected to a mobile network or wifi” I’m not sure what’s causing this, and ever since the newest update my phone has slowed down. Any advice?

Solution: The notification that you are getting is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. To check if this is the case you should start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the notification is not appearing when the phone is in this mode then chances are it is caused by one of the apps you downloaded.

For the issue of your phone slowing down after the software update what you will want to so to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This reset will erase any old data that has not been completely removed from the phone during the update and is usually the culprit when issues occur after a software update.

Note 5 Videos Are Corrupted After Moving To Different Album

Problem: hi, i am using samsung note 5 N920C. i was recording a 20 and 30 min videos on resolution FHD they took 2.49 GB and 3.76 GB. they were saved and working then i moved (not copying) them to an album and when it finished they were corrupted and failed to play the two videos taking a space but not working saying unknown error has occurred. Is there any solution ?

Solution: You can try to connect your phone to a computer then using the file manager of the computer navigate to the folder where the videos ar and copy them to the computer. If the files are unplayable then they are most likely corrupted already. Disconnect your phone from the computer then do a restart. If the videos are still unplayable then there’s little chance of recovering the file right now.

Note 5 Can’t Access Pro Setting

Problem: I’m having issues with using the pro setting on the camera. When I push pro it kicks me back to my home page. Please help. Without it I can’t take the pictures I need to. This all started after the last update. I’m not sure what OS it updated to but it reset everything on my phone.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to try clearing the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager. Once this is done try to check if you are now able to access the pro setting.

If the issue still persists then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Try to check if you can access the pro setting in this mode. If you can then the issue is caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Downloaded Audio File From Email Playing On Speaker

Problem: Company email setup on phone, but also receive voicemail via email (wav file). When you want to listen to it, it plays through the speaker of the phone rather than the earpiece of the phone. Is there a way to resolve this? I get work sensitive voicemails from VP’s, and CEO’s. This phone is out of the box fresh (3days). No additional app players added.

Solution: When you download an audio file from an email and play it the default speaker to be used is the external speaker of the phone. If you don’t want other people to hear the audio file then you will have to use a headphone. The audio file won’t be played from the earpiece since this is only used for calls.

Note 5 Can’t Download Photos To Computer

Problem: Hello, I am trying to download my photos from my Note 5 to my computer.  It says “no new photos found” and will not let me download.  Any suggestions on how to handle that?  Thanks.

Solution: The first thing that you need to make sure of is that the photos are available in your phone. Once you have verified that the photos are available you should connect your phone to the computer. If necessary, touch and hold the Status bar (area at the top of the phone screen with the time, signal strength, etc.) then drag to the bottom. Select the USB icon then select Photo Transfer or File Transfer. Using the file manager of the computer navigate to the folder of the phone  where the photos are located.
