Note 5 Has Purple Screen

Problem: Galaxy Note 5 Purple Screen Problem – there was small dot in purple color in upper right corner area and it becomes spreading to whole screen blocking vision to see the contents. I found that there were many similar cases from Youtube.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data ( if you are able to do a backup) then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. If the issue still occurs after the reset then the problem is most likely caused by a faulty display. The best thing to do in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s likely that you will need to have the display assembly replaced.

Note 5 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: I first noticed that I couldn’t turn my phone off at all, and then I tried to charge it and it wouldn’t charge. It was almost dead, so I figured I would just let it die and then charge and restart, hoping this would fix the issue. I couldn’t get it to charge when it was off either. For a little while there was a bright light on, until it fully dyed. I tried holding the down vol + power, nothing. Then I tried holding the down + power + home, nothing. Just in case I tried all of the above with the up vol. I also blew out the charge socket, tried connecting it to my computer, tried different plugs, and still nothing. HELP!!! I just got this phone a month ago, and have no warranty.

Related Problem: Was watching a video on my phone when it vibrated and said i only had 10% battery left. Figured I had enough to finish the video. About 30 sec later the phone goes completely black and wont turn on. When I plug the original charger in the battery icon shows up with the white lighting bolt on it but that’s it. No LED or battery percentage shows. Left plugged in for 20 min and its still on the same screen. Plugged it into my pc and it does the same thing. Tried every combination of buttons you can press and still no change. Also no idea what android version my phone is.

Solution: If you already tried cleaning the charging port and used different chargers ( with different charging cords) to charge the phone and it still does not charge or turn on then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery or charging port. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 No Sound Notification when Getting Text Message

Problem: My note 5 will not make sounds when I get a text, this has been going on for months now, I’ve tried everything I know to do, it flashes a light and that’s it and I have no idea what version I’m running

Solution: You should try to check the text message notification setting of your phone and make sure that it is set to make a sound.

  • Open the text messaging app
  • Tap MORE (located in the upper-right).
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Notifications.
  • Tap the Notifications switch make sure that it is On
  • Tap Notification sound, select an option (e.g., Silent, Beep Once, etc.) then tap Done.

If your phone has the correct text message notification setting and the issue still occurs then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Has Open Lock Symbol With Custom

Problem: hi when i turn on my samsung note 5 there is an opened lock that appears together with the logo and under the luck is written “custom.” i have tried doing hard reset but when i get into recovery menu and select factory reset, the phone will restart immediately with the same problem. so please i need your help.

Solution: This open lock symbol will usually be displayed if your phone is running on a custom software or if the phone has been rooted. If you don’t want to see this then you will have to flash your phone with its stock firmware file using Odin.

Note 5 Screen Will Become Unresponsive

Problem: I have a Galaxy Note 5, and at times the screen will become unresponsive, as in the phone is still powered on, receiving calls/texts, etc. but the screen simply won’t power on at all. My notification light works, if I press the home key, the device acts normal, just with no screen

Solution: Try checking if the problem is caused by an app you installed by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: I have at&t. I dropped my phone and it cracked in the left upper corner. Me, not being smart, picked at the glass and pieces of it came off and now I see a blue glass behind where I picked the glass. Then my battery was at 20% and I set it down. All of a sudden, I hear a vibration, it was my phone turning off, I assumed because of the battery, it just died. Then, I tried to charge it and an hour later, it would not turn on, still quite a few hours later it still hasn’t cut on. All it does is flash the blue led notification light and if it is hooked up to a charger, it had red flashing and blue flashing. When I unplug the charger, it vibrates and the light changes to flashing blue. The screen does not light up at all. At first, it was lighting a line on the side for a second. Now it won’t show anything except for the flashing blue light. I think it’s beyond repair, but maybe not. Thanks in advance.

Solution: It looks like the drop might have damaged other components inside the phone aside from the display. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
