Oppo’s 30W VOOC Fast Charging Tech is Reportedly Ready

  • The charging engineer for Oppo has confirmed that the company’s 30W VOOC fast charging tech is now ready.
  • This comes as the tech’s arrival was pushed by a few months as per older reports.
  • There’s a strong likelihood that OnePlus will end up using this tech on its upcoming phone, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.

Previous rumors have suggested that Oppo was working on a new and improved 30W fast charging tech for its smartphone. Well, it seems like the day is finally near. Speaking to XDA-Developers, Charging Engineer at Oppo, Edward Tian said that the company’s rumored 30W fast charging VOOC tech is now ready with the R&D process reportedly complete. However, he didn’t mention when we will see this tech on a smartphone, so it’s anybody’s guess right now as to which smartphone will see this tech first.

It’s also worth mentioning that OnePlus is closely associated with Oppo, and it’s entirely possible that the company’s upcoming flagship, known as the OnePlus 8, will have this 30W fast charging tech included, possibly with a different name.

Fast charging tech has evolved a great deal over the past couple of years. OnePlus’ most recent smartphone, the OnePlus 7T Pro comes with 30W charging enabled, dubbed Warp Charge 30T. Meanwhile, companies like Samsung have pushed the envelope even further with the introduction of 45W fast charging tech on the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G which was announced not too long ago. Perhaps OnePlus has bigger plans for the OnePlus 7T successor.

We recently came across what was believed to be a live image of the OnePlus 8 Pro, giving us a very good idea about its design attributes. The phone should be announced on the 14th of April as per reports, so the wait isn’t too long now.
