Nokia 7.2 with Android 9.0 and 6GB RAM Appears on Geekbench

A new Nokia device known as “Daredevil” started making the rounds on the internet a few weeks ago. This was subsequently discovered to be the Nokia 7.2. Today, this smartphone has been spotted on a Geekbench listing, hinting that the launch of the handset isn’t too far away. It’s anybody’s guess at the moment, but it seems like Nokia and HMD Global will unveil this smartphone at the IFA event in Berlin next month.

The interesting aspect of this Geekbench listing is that it also reveals a few hardware specifications of the device. Primarily, the phone appears to be running an octa-core processor. While the name isn’t specified, it is speculated that this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. This chipset is expected to appear on multiple mid-ranged offerings before the end of 2020.

Nokia Daredevil

The phone appears to be running Android 9.0 Pie by default. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, and we’re actually surprised there’s no Android Q here. Android 9.0 was announced last year and will be refreshed this year with Android Q.

A previous leak pertaining to the Nokia 7.2 suggested that this phone will have a circular triple camera sensor on the back, while details on its features and functionality are still scarce. It’s likely that HMD Global wants to sell this in key markets, while an American launch cannot be ruled out either.

For those unaware, Nokia has already scheduled an event for Sep. 5 at Berlin, so we will most likely see this phone during the course of the event. What do you think about the Nokia 7.2?
