LG V20 Turns Off Will Not Restart

Problem: LG V20 powered down on its own and will not restart. I swapped out the battery, did the power/volume button press w/o a response. It doesn’t vibrate, show boot screen or anything. I tried battery and sim card in another phone and both are fine. Doesn’t give Charging screen when plugged in either. Phone was warm when it shut down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: If the battery works without any problems on another device then the issue is most likely with the phone itself. Try pressing and holding the power button with the battery installed until the phone restarts. If the device still remains unresponsive then you need to have this checked at a service center as the problem could already be caused by a faulty internal hardware component.

LG V20 Will Not Charge

Problem: When i first plug my lg v20 in to charge, the charge symbol will show but only for a few seconds, then go off. If i jiggle the plug that is now connected to phone. I may be able to get it back to charge and as long as i don’t touch it, it may continue to charge. I’ve purchased new cords and they are all the same.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem right now is to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done try using different charging cords and wall chargers to charge the phone.

If the issue still persists then the charging port of your phone might already be faulty. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

LG V20 microSD Card Files Are Corrupted

Problem: I have a LG V20. New phone, old phone broken at Christmas 2016. This phone was purchased brand new. Only 2 months old. I had a 32gb sd card and purchased an upgrade 128gb and was waiting on a 256gb to come in the mail. I was transferring the files from the phone to the computer (cut and paste) via usb. Phone accidently came unplugged. Tried to plug back in to see If transfer was done or I need to start over. My media files were gone. (Photo video music) Not on the phone or the camera. I found a program online for Windows called photorec. This program found all of my files and loaded them on my work computer. Best feeling ever. Needed to get the files off my work computer so I COPIED this time over to a 64gb flash drive. Flash drive corrupted in the process and I haven’t found anything that can help the flash drive. Since it was a copy, they were still on work computer. I formatted the original 32gb card and successfully copied the files onto the card. My new 128gb was in the mail when I got home. I went to copy my music and video over to personal computer from 32gb card. I noticed that some of the files were corrupted but most were still there. When I got home I noticed more of the files had corrupted. Next thing all of them were corrupted. I trashed the 32 gb card and put the new 128 card in. Went back to work to get those files from the work computer. Transferred to 128gb card via usb to phone. Corrupted files again. the files on the work computer had also slowly corrupted. I figure something in those files were the problem. Now I had lost my 32gb sd, my 64gb flash drive and my 128gb card. New 256gb sd showed up. I factory reset my phone before installing the 256. Seemed fine but slowly all media started corrupting again. Found a site that had me clear caches and data from Google play store and play store framework. Had to delete google account from phone. Re entered google account. Magic fix solved everything. But then the files become corrupted again.

Solution: It’s very likely that the recovered files are corrupt and have not been totally fixed. To avoid further issues I recommend that you do not copy these files to your new 256GB microSD card.

LG V20 Not Charging

Problem: My LG V20 was not taking a charge. It was at 54%. I put it on the factory charger, and went back to it about 30 minutes later and it was still 54%. I then checked to make sure it was plugged in properly at both ends. It was and it showed on phone that it was supposedly charging. let it alone for about 30 more minutes, same results, 54%. The charger works fine on other devices.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air as the presence of dirt or debris can slow down the charging process. If the problem persists then you will have to try replacing the battery of the phone as this might be faulty already.

LG V20 Does Not Turn On

Problem: So I went online to look if this was a problem, and if there was a fix. I shut phone off/restart, it never came back on. I waited a few minutes and tried to turn it on again, no avail. I tried holding button in for 30 seconds, nothing. Now being upset, I left phone sit for awhile, maybe an hour or so. Then I tried again, nothing. kept trying and kept trying. Finally it booted up. I then plugged it into charger, still wasn’t charging correctly. I was stumped, didn’t know what to do. So I hit the restart again, worried it might not come back on. My fears were right, I fought with it for another hour or so, and it came on. Plugged it in to charger, all was back to normal. Thank goodness!! So a week or so went by with no problems, until today! Wasn’t charging correctly again, after trying to restart it, I can’t get It to turn on at all. Fought for 2 hours and nothing. Now I got an $840 phone that won’t turn on. What can I do to get this thing to work?????

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge to turn on the device. Follow the steps listed below to charge the phone.

Remove the battery from the phone then press the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery.
Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
Turn on the phone.

If the issue persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Randomly Turns Off

Problem: I have a V20 and it turns off randomly at moments while I’m using it and it is the only phone I have. I just recently used it a couple hours ago and now it isn’t working. Whenever it turns off, then often after I try to turn it back on, the screen doesn’t turn on but the phone itself does turn on. Not even the screen that shows the boot up logo comes up. So if you could please give me any suggestions on what to do, then it would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: For this particular issue I would recommend that you do a factory reset from recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset and remove the microSD card if the phone has one installed.

Turn off the phone
Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
When “Factory data reset” appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
Press the Power button to confirm.
When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings,” use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
Press the Power button to reset the device.

If the issue persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
