LG G5 Will Not Charge

Problem: Hey, So the other day my LG G5 died. I went to charge it, but instead of accepting the charge, the LED flashed red and the phone said 0% charging. Then the charger got hot. I mean, REALLY hot. I thought it was the charger that was the issue, so I tried a different USB C to see if it would work. The same thing happened. When I would press the power key, the screen would come on and say 0% with a picture of a charger. But I guess the battery is so drained at this point that there is no more power to even do that. The battery doesn’t have any visible water damage, though when I opened the compartment this morning there was a little bit of fluid. There was definitely no water damage on the device. Do you think that this could be a battery issue? In Canada this is a pretty new phone, and so I would have to buy a replacement battery online, as phone companies don’t sell just the battery. Otherwise I would have to send it in for a warranty (if the damage is even covered) or a flat out replacement, which is expensive. Please let me know what suggestions you have! Thanks

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do whenever the phone does not charge is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is clean. Use a can of compressed air to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Before charging the phone you should remove the battery first and then press on the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Once this is done reinsert the battery then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try using different charging cords and wall chargers. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should try using a new battery on your phone as a faulty battery can also cause this kind of problem.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Will Not Charge

Problem: I have an lg g5. The screen is cracked, but it basically still works. Except that recently after I lock the phone, it won’t turn back on. At that point, no function is available. Power button won’t turn it on, double tapping the screen won’t turn it on, double tapping the volume buttons won’t bring up the shortcut functions. It will reset by holding the volume and power button. And the screen will come back on if I plug the charger in. I’m assuming it has something to do with the physical damage, but while i wait for my next paycheck to get it fixed professionally, I was hoping you could find any solutions if it is software related and if anyone else has experienced this same issue.

Solution: Unfortunately in this case the best way to fix the problem is to have the display replaced. If you perform some software troubleshooting such as a factory reset I’m pretty sure that the issue will still appear again which is why you should bring this phone to a service center.

LG G5 Screen Is Cracked After Phone Dropped

Problem: Dropped lg5. Phone screen cracked some. If I double tapped it would come on. Now I can’t turn it on at all. The charger works , but screen is black. Tried to press on button with volume button, no picture on screen. Removed battery and put it back in, but still nothing.

Solution: Just like the issue which we have tackled above the best thing that you can do in this particular case is to have the display assembly replaced at a service center.

LG G5 Not Turning On

Problem: My Friend had LG G5, and i buy it from him, but the time when he was giving it to me before he factory reset the phone, and after that He Remove the battery from the cell, When he turn it on again the phone was stuck at LG logo and did not goes further, we send it to a technician shop but after he give it back to us with sorry now the phone is not turning on, i put it on Original Charger, and try many things but the result is Black LG G5, Please Help me out

Related Problem: I have an lg g5 bought a new battery for it put it in and phone doesn’t turn on I put it on charger and get a ? mark over the battery display

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge to turn on the phone. To do this just follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • If the phone still does not turn on then try replacing the battery with a new one.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by an internal component that is failing to work.

LG G5 Can’t Send Or Receive Text Messages

Problem: I have a safelink plan. I can make calls receive calls and send and receive pictures but can’t send or receive text message. Have had the prob for a month please help since safelink can’t seem to. Thank you.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to restart the phone. This not only reestablishes the connection of the phone to the network but also refreshes the phone software. In case the issue still occurs after this try to contact your service provider and inquire if there are any text messaging issues on the network or on your account. Once you have this cleared and the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs and if it does then proceed to the next step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue still occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG G5 Fast Charging Not Working

Problem: Good morning all, I have buy LG G5 from LG after 2 days using  adapter of fast charging stop working, I can change it with the normal adapter not for g5 is working so can fix me this problem thank you

Solution: To make sure that the fast charging works well on the phone make sure not to use the device while it is charging. You should also make sure to use the correct charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. The cable and charger should be certified to work with Quick Charge 3.0. In case the issue is with the cable or charger that you are using then try replacing them. Another factor that can cause this issue is dirt or debris stuck in the charging port of the phone. If this is the case then you will have to clean the port using a can of compressed air.

In case the problem persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset. If after the reset the phone still does not fast charge then you should bring this to a service center and have it checked.
