LG G5 Software Update Will Not Complete

Problem: I have a LG G5. I tried to do the most recent update and it started but will not finish. I think it may be because I do not have enough storage. My phone will turn on and I can use all my apps through wifi, but I cannot get cell service because the update is not complete. I have tried going through and erasing a ton of photos and videos but the update will not complete. and my phone turns itself off after every 5-10 minutes. My notification bar says “android is upgrading” and has a status bar. I have tried taking my battery out  after my phone turns itself off but it has not helped thus far.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to perform a factory reset then update the phone software. Before doing the reset make sure to backup your phone data as this will be erased in the process.

I recommend doing the reset using the hardware keys which can be done by following the steps listed below.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
  • When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
  • ‘Factory data reset’ appears.
  • Use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  • Press the Power button to confirm.
  • Erase all user data and restore default settings’ appears.
  • Use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  • Press the Power button to reset the device.

LG G5 Timestamp Photos And Videos

Problem: How do I best time and date stamp photos and videos on my LG-G5? I may possibly need to prove where and when a photo and/or video was taken in a court case with an extremely crooked landlord in court coming up within 2 weeks time. I’d like to keep as much quality & clarity as possible, as well as possibly need to send &/or share/transfer the audio/video information I’ll be collecting. Is there somewhere I can adjust settings, OR are there ANY “free”/VERY low-cost apps you’d suggest to cover varying audio to video time and place stamps? (…it seems as though I must be missing something easy &/or obvious.)(I purchased my unlocked, dual-SIM, LG-G5 phone from a reliable, well rated, US based eBay seller just weeks after this model was launched)

Solution: The videos and photos that you will take using your phone will automatically have a timestamp in them which can be viewed from the property of the file. If you would like the timestamp to appear on the photo itself then you can download some of the popular apps over at the Google Play Store that does exactly this. Some of the popular choices are Vignette and APD TimeStamp.

LG G5 Drops Wi-Fi Connection

Problem: Lg g5 looses wifi periodically. Then searches and can’t find any wifi signal. Reboot sometimes helps The phone has been returned and replaced but the new phone is doing the same. There are differently wifi signals as my family’s phone are still getting a signal and my neighbours wifi should still show (there but unavailable ). Have tried soft and hard reboot. Clearing cache etc. All the tips you suggested but no good. Loved G5 upto this point

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue occurs when the phone connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If it does and since you have already performed a factory reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Screen Not Turning On From Sleep Mode

Problem: If phone is left unused it goes into power saving mode and can be awoken normally but if left for longer than 10 mins it goes comatose, will not power at all. The screen stays grayed with the time and date of when it stopped and the info will disappear when power button is engaged. If you disengage the battery and re engage and push a hold power button it reboots as if it was powered off and works fine until the next time its is left unattended. The engaging the charging cable does not affect it. What other info can i forward to you?

Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by some form of software glitch. The first thing that you need to do is to wipe the cache partition of the phone. Follow the steps listed below to perform this procedure.

  • Bring down the notification bar and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
  • Tap General >Storage & USB. (If using List view, scroll down to ‘DEVICE’ and tap Storage).
  • Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
  • Tap Cached data, then tap YES.
  • Wait for the cached data to clear
  • When the wipe is complete, the storage screen refreshes and cached data will not be listed.

In case the issue still occurs after performing this step then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Screen Is Black

Problem: my phone hit my charger and it cracked the top screen in a small circle and the phone makes sounds when I try to turn it on and it flashes and the ringtone still comes on when someone calls but this blacked out and wont turn on

Solution: Unfortunately in this case the problem is already caused by a damaged screen which can’t be fixed by troubleshooting. You will need to have this display assembly replaced at a service center.

LG G5 Rear Button Not Working

Problem: My problem is very rare related to LG G5. Maybe it’s the first time you have been informed about such issue. it’s been 10 months i’m using this phone. it was working fine. But one day its rear button stopped working. As you know you can also switch on and off the screen using double tap as well. So i did that. But then i got worried that why its rear round button not working. As this button was not working i could not switch off/on, restart my phone. So i abruptly detached its battery. When i put my battery back and switched on my phone, i got an error. The error was a picture.

– In which on the left side of the picture there was upper module was detached from lower module with a red ‘X’ below

– In the center there were 02 arrows -><- and

– On the right there a picture of only lower module with a green ‘O’ below

What i understood from it that as if it says that i have to replace the bottom part. Now whenever i switch on my phone i get the same issue. I don’t know how to solve it. Plz help

Solution: It looks like this problem is caused by a faulty power/lock key. If you can start your phone then do a factory reset ( make sure to have a backup copy of your phone data when you do this) then you should do so to check if the issue is caused by a software glitch. In case you are unable to do a factory reset or if the issue still occurs after the reset then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
