You’re finally going on that run or jog you’ve been meaning to go on for months down. You’ve made it a mile down the road, but then you trip, and more annoyingly, involuntarily yank the headphones out of your ears as you try to regain your balance. That’s something that happens all of the time with wired headphones, and it goes without saying, it’s extremely annoying and can even be painful — luckily, there’s an easy way to solve that “yanking” problem: a pair of truly wireless earbuds.

You don’t want just any pair of truly wireless earbuds, though. You want something that will provide you with excellent sound quality and long battery life. There are many earbuds on the market that have the promise to deliver that, but it all ends up being marketing jargon. That said, if you want something truly good, follow along with us below. We’ve dug through the mire to show you two of the best truly wireless earbuds — the Jabra Elite 65t and the Apple AirPods. Stick with us, and we’ll help you find out which one is right for you. Let’s dive right in.
The Jabra Elite 65t’s can bring excellent sound quality to any device — smartphone, tablet, computer, TV, and others. They work well with and connect up to any brand of a smartphone over Bluetooth. You’ll be able to hear all of the great detail found in almost any genre of music. You won’t have a problem listening to movies, TV shows, and other media with these either.
Now, what we like about the Jabra Elite 65t’s is the battery life. Many of top truly wireless earbud contenders all have excellent battery capacity, but the Jabra Elite 65t’s beat many of them with around 25% better battery life. That makes these nice for longer listening sessions, such as during gym time or while studying or working at a coffee shop.
Now, what makes the Jabra Elite 65t’s unique is how Jabra has made these to integrate well into your life. These are one of the few truly wireless earbuds that build in digital assistants like Alexa in their hardware and software. That said, with your Elite 65t’s powered on, just say the command “Hey, Alexa”, and you’ll be able to do anything from have her read the news to you to answering the hardest questions. Alexa can even be used in your earbuds to manage any smart devices connected to your home.
Aside from that, the Jabra Elite 65t’s are super comfortable to wear and even come with several extra ear tips in different sizes that you can swap out as needed for maximum comfort.

The Apple AirPods are an excellent pair of headphones. Apple has designed these to work well with the iPhone, but you shouldn’t have trouble using these on any device capable of Bluetooth. You can pair them up with an Android or Windows Phone as you would normally with a Bluetooth device — then, you can use them like you normally would with any pair of wireless headphones. These sound great on Android, and you’re able to use them for hands-free calling as well.
However, where the Apple AirPods shine is in use with Apple devices. Connect the Apple AirPods up to your iPhone, and then they can be used with any Apple device connected to your iCloud account without any additional pairing. On a Mac, you might have to select them from the list of available Bluetooth devices, but that’s it.
The touch functionality of the Apple AirPods is nice. Double-tap on the left AirPods, and you’ll immediately activate Siri. From there, you can ask her any question or give her any command — such as “Hey Siri, how’s the weather?” or “Hey Siri, call Dad.” If someone is calling you, you can even double-tap the left earbud to answer the call. You can also — on your Apple device — change the different ways that double-tapping works — for example, you could change the Siri activation to Skip Song, or something else.
What we like about the Apple AirPods is the pop-up display. Pop open the case, and with your iPhone or Apple device “on”, you should see a pop-up window appear that gives you stats on how much battery is left in the AirPods as well as how much is left in the charging case.

As you can see, both the Jabra Elite 65t’s and the Apple AirPods are excellent truly wireless earbuds; however, we think the Jabra Elite 65t’s are the big winner here. Not only will they work well with any smartphone, but they use a universal digital assistant like Alexa that can be used on almost any platform. You’re not restricted to, say, Siri on iOS like the AirPods are. Not only that, but these provide some excellent sound quality and battery life.
But, if you do have an Apple device, you might want to give the Apple AirPods a shot. They do have some neat features inside of them, with the inter-connectivity between Apple devices probably being the best aspect.
